| I know Marco's style. And I knew that the evening's overall sound would reflect hard trance. And I apologize for inserting "his remix" for the FSOL - Papa New Guinea track. Out of all the tunes he played, FSOL stuck out to me for some reason. All I'm saying is I've heard better from Marco V. For a minute there, I thought I was listening to Mark Norman. Anyways, the style was too hard for me. |

Probably the highlight was his new single, the track with that massive guitar-like sound and a huge breakbeat that came in and went over a 4/4 beat. I dunno even know what it was called, he just said he was playing his new single after one song that was playing.
Marco doesn't really play any uplifting trance, so keep that in mind when evaluating the night (I don't know if that's what you were expecting or not). His style is definitely changing, but he'll always be one to pound you with the hard stuff. |
I loved his set too! Even though I didnt manage to get there until about 1:20. I guess he came on around 12 or so? I came in hoping he was gonna play hard with more techno than trance. But I thought his set was great.
And that song with the guitar riff sound was SICK!! Probably my fave song of the night too. And that one track that had vocals talking about 'computer technology' was great too. And it was really nice to hear X Press 2 - Strobelight Silhouette too. One more thing that I thought was really cool was when he slowed down and started to play part of Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang, the song played in the opening of Kill Bill vol 1. I dont know if it was a remix of the tune or whatever, but it was really cool.

He asked me if I'd seen the movie before he played it. He said that he had a bootleg of that part of the movie. I didn't catch whether or not it was his bootleg or not though... |

Ironically, Dan Efex played it after Marco left!
I don't think it's a bad a remix, but it's not one of his better remixes. Some of those classic tunes are really hard to touch IMHO. |

Yeah his remix of Paul van Dyk - Connected takes the cake as the worst IMO. |

i'm an idiot. i stayed up til 7am on fri night (sat morning), didn't get much sleep, then didn't have dinner and started pounding beers, got WAY too drunk, got soaked on my way into Vision and walked thru a 6 inch puddle of water... not a good prelude to a night of clubbing. i ended up trying to fall asleep on the couches in the little room by the bathrooms on the 3rd floor, but umm it's not exactly easy to fall asleep while listening to Marco V.
i was kinda pissed at myself, 'cause i wanted to have a good time but all i could think about was being in bed. ugh. so i ended up leaving around 2, i think.
the crazy dude working at the parking garage made my night, after he said "what's that smell? i hope that's not your car" and then exclaimed "yo, it smells like fresh crack!"
i will be much more alive for Armin next week. i promise!
btw, Maytag... i was gonna come say hi to you 'cause Rubin told me you were there, but i was just so out of it. you woulda thought i was a junkie or somethin, lol. |

yeah i was almost embarrased by the crowd that was there to witness Marco V...the highlight of my night came when my sister and I showed up early and got to see the aftermath of the bachellorette parties...there were like 150 women and 4 guys there...suffice to say...i was mighty popular early on :toocool:
but Dan Efex tore shiz up...and i hope to see a much better gathering for armin on sunday |

lots of different factors, I think.
weather is definitely one of late.
Spundae having alot of artists that have already played there once before may have something to do with it. I think with limited funds, some may be hesitating to go see someone they've already seen once before.
Soundbar may be taking a few ppl away, but I don't think they're going to take THAT many ppl away. There are a TON of ppl in the Chicago area after all. |

Just curious because I met him and his production partner Chris Conner (Brahma is their name) in Miami waiting outside of Nerve for Digweed. They're really nice guys. And pretty talented of course too.

marco v isn't a household name to most ppl in chicago - he's just not well-known - thats prolly why it wasn't very crowded for his show.
i don't think sound bar is taking away from vision's popularity - sound bar has had some really good shows on friday night and its hard for some ppl to get the motivation and funds to go out friday and saturday night.
i guarantee that armin's show will be packed and demonstrate that vision's popularity is just fine - they just gotta bring in the talent. |

I've been supporting that track too, so I spotted it immediately (he played the Thomas Penton remix, BTW - the original is a proggy breaks tune that switches over to 4/4 at the end).
I just emailed Michael to let him know. I'm sure up and coming American producers would want to know that some big name European DJ's are supporting their tunes. |
