orbax teaching the values of the HEMI to the unautomotive noobs. It was a classic engince in muscle cars..ie the charger late 1960's...still not a big fan of it...cuz the fuel economy is ...but classic engine design...better than the lameass rotary engine.
Orbax
its a fun tinker engine. Crated 383s will always have a place in my heart for some cheap auto tuning.
torontotrance
so true....the 383's...but you did not grow up tinkering with those. People like my dad did that tho...the stories of those engines.

HEMI droooool

Rotary... always blowing a seal.

rotary is lameass? what about the rx-7? such a beautiful and kick ass car. I think a rx-7 could put a whoopin on some of those hemi's.

 Then why dont you see rotary powered top fuel cars... You see hemi powered but no rotary. Maybe there is a reason behind that?

top fuel is only fun to watch when the engines grenade. otherwise who would care about it? going in a straight line whoopdedoo.

You obviously missed my point. The rotary is not the be all end all of engines, back in the 70's every tech was taught how to work on one because it was said to be the next HUGE thing. Obviously it wasnt. There were good reasons for that too. AKA the reliability was crap.

i never said it was supposed to be the greatest engine of all time. but the output from such a small displacement is pretty cool.

i've got nothing against hemi's, i like old muscle cars in fact.

the one thing that really has me interested in and wanting to work on. The hybrid electrics. a 42 volt system.

I want to get a lil prius or something.

teegee
btw, people call it a hemi because the camshafts in the engine are hemispherical
Orbax
Just like to add that you dont see many rotaries pushing 3 thousand horse power :p
