In your opinion, what makes a DJ "Top" 4 u?
Is it:
- The tunes he plays?
- His mixing techniques?
- Or do you just like him because your big-bro sed so?
I'm just curious, as I hear/see a lot of polls etc. askin' who you think is "Top" I'm just wondering why you like who you do? |

here are my four points for a TOP DJ:
* tunes he playes are always good
* tight mixing techniques
* can produce or remix songs well
* has a unique style that differentiates him from everyone else |

| i like a dj that seems to be psycic - knows what everyone in the crowd wants, interacts with the crowd, throws down amazing tunes that NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD BEFORE |

a TOP dj for me is a dj that:
plays good tunes.. old or new dosen't matter as long as their good
has good mixing skills
feels the crowd.. know what the crowd wants him to play.. |

For me, for a DJ to be on my top of my list,
*seamless mixing
*great playlist (regardless of when its released...actually the combination of both in one set is the best)
*reads the crowd/interact w/ the crowd
*has different mixing technique that sets them apart from all the others.
last but least:, very important:
*seems like they are enjoying spinning. has a smile on face :D :D :D
great example would be Ferry Corsten, though ive only seen him spin once ;) of course u know that he's a seamless spiner and all but he really did set himself apart from all the other DJs... mebbe even better than Tiesto. the way he knows how to start from a darker tunes and gradually working his way up to energetic yet uplifting stuff and stabalizing the reaction of the crows.. just AMAZING!!! :eyes: and of course when he smiled to the crowd and interacted w/ us totally made my legs go weak and my heart ga-ga!:o now thats one DJ that proves himself worthy to be on ppl'S top DJ list;)

this is just my opinion but...
DJ does not equal Producer nor a Remixer...
to me, they are all different. many DJs do all of the above (eg. FC/Tiesto) but many other DJs dont do anything except DJ...so it would be hard for me to agree that remixes and producing would be critereias to fulfil for them to be a canidate for top DJ list...
just my $.02 ;)

To me a DJ is good if everyone else say's he's good. I don't have to hear any livesets of him before i will go on these threads and tear apart how i hate so-and-so or love so-and-so just because another guy said so....
I like to jump on the bandwagon.

| My top DJ is Judge Jules, because he plays song i really like, he tries things that others would not dare, and his mixin is in general top notch. That is what i look for in a dj, mainly if i like what he plays. So my main point is selection |
