Thinking about getting a effects mixer. Need some suggestions

I love my scratch mixer but I want to get an effects mixer now. I am thinking about getting the Pioneer DJM500 mixer but it is very expensive and I am waiting until I can afford it. I was thinking about getting a good 2 or 3 channel effects mixer that is cheaper. Any suggestions, or is the Pioneer so good that I should just continue with my scratch mixer and just purchase the Pioneer DJM500 a forget about getting something else in the meantime? Also, is there another mixer that you suggest over the Pioneer DJM500? I see that a lot of people own this mixer and really love it.

what type of mixer do you currently have? Personally i'm not a huge fan of pioneer's djm-500/600 series. If your happy w/ your current mixer you may just want to get a effects processor instead.

here's some good effects processors:

and the pioneer efx-500

If you do want a good effects mixer look into the denon dn-x1500. here's some other nice mixers to look at:

Xone:62 (not big on effects but has really killer filters and great eqs)
Rane Empath (Has no effects, but great sound, great feel, works really well for scratching, and effects send/return is the best, My personal favorite)

Xone:92 (I will need to cheat on my empath for her!)

I currently own a DJM-500, and I think its sound quality really lacks. I'd personally recommend another mixer and a external effector if space isn't an issue.

get a chaos pad 2 they have like a bajillion effects and a bajillion settings for those effects. Its not a mixer though as much as somethin you hook up to your other mixer.

Oh yeah and if you don't like your pioneer due to poor sound quality you can always give it to me:haha:

djm-600 isnt any better sounding than the djm-500 right?
and how come big venues often use the djm-600?

Sound quality from a DJM-600 blows away a DJM-500!

cuz its very popular, and just about every DJ, at one point or another has used a DJM-600.

However, in the big clubs you dont see them. Rane and Allen & Heath are known for their awesome sound quality above all else and that is what the big boys and the big clubs use.

I currently am saving for my xone :92. why u might ask, cuz few will argue that it is one of the best sounding mixers out there!

id get a dedicated fx processor if you want good fx. the ones on the pioneer are decent but are not flexible at all so u usually end up with the same sound for each effect, so they arent that useful really

Thank yiou all for your advice and letting me know how the Pioneer sounds. The current mixer that I have is the American Audio QD5 2 channel scratch mixer. What are these effects processors? I never heard of them but I am carious to look into one now. Which one is good? That Pioneer one you told me about looks good. How's taht one? Also, do I need a third channel to hook it up?

the kaos pad or chaos pad(not sure witch but I think its made by korg)
comes with everything the djm has and more.It is an effects processor.Look up korg in search and you will find it.I promise you won't be dissapointed.

The kaoss pad 2 is ok. I personally don't like the touchpad to adjust all paramaters; but that's just me. Also the Pioneer efx-500 is solid w/ many effects you'll find on a djm-600 however it's showing its age. I personally use the Alesis Ineko for the time being. It's a real steal at $75 and i'm surprised it sounds as good as it does and worked beautifully the past year i've owned it. I have that paired w/ my Rane Empath and IMO that boosts a really sick sounding setup. :) Filters are not as nice as on a xone62 for sure but for the money i feel that i got a great cheap effects that gets the job done everytime. As for my Empath; That's the best 3channel mixer out there.

yeah the chaos pad has a xy vertical touchscreen which makes it wierd to some people but i still think its sweet cause you can make the sounds move. Its like having 2 knobs that change the effect at the same time. The chaos pad also has a sampler and 100 different effects.Couple that with the xy screen and you got 1000 different effects.I would at least check it out online before you buy anything else.
