Ice Hockey Fights (pg. 2)

You want to know why the IIHF hates fighting and the NHL does not. It is because the IIHF are mostly European pretty boys who rather stick to fancy cherry picking, rather than play the gritty north american brand of hockey. Fighting is a part of the game damnit, it does not happen as often as you think. The British think Hockey is a wuss sport, they are all ******s, you wear padding to prevent death, anyone that has been hit by a ing puck...realizes the power of a six ounce piece of galvanized rubber. Now back to fighting, it is part of the game and the penalties are severe for fighting. It is not my fault the Europeans never show up come playoff time and the teams are lead by Canadians.

Look at the 4 teams still left

only european that has not gone into a headdive is Calgary's goalie.

Calgary led by Conroy and Ignila
San Jose led by Damphousse, Marleau and Cheechoo
Philly led by Primeau and Ronnick (yank)
Tampa Bay led by Leclavier, St.Louis and others

sorry for the Canadian proof but it is real...just wait for the World Cup people...WOOOOOT!!!!!!!

See it is rare that an injury happens in a fight (odd broken hand and black eye and a loss of a tooth), most of the injuries that happen in hockey are stick related offences...usually by careless s. In 1994, I saw some russian guy clip Lyle Odelein with a stick...dropped like a sack of bricks, he had to get 300+ stitches. The Berard incident I saw live...lost an eye due to a stick by a Marian Hossa. The most violent thing I ever saw was goalie got cut by a skate..clipped his juggular, that is why neck guards are mandatory in every league below the NHL and that goalies in all leagues wear them.

now about league hockey fights...I've involved in 2...well was on the ice when it happened. See nowdays leagues just suspend you for the fight and usually after. I was on the ice as goaltender during 1 brawl, just the on ice players...I was 13 and scared of my father still...fight started when the other goalie smacked our hothead on the team, he punched back quickly..led to 3 fights...I was going to fight the other goalie..I hear SIT YOUR ASS DOWN SON, I knew it was my old man, so I sat at the blue line. My coach asked me after the game, why did you do it, I said I heard my father and never saw him and I knew what to do or I'd get my ass kicked. As we were going home, father goes...good boy....I would have kicked your ass for that. Really most bench clearing brawls in junior leagues result in the police showing up and usually laying charges.

wtf TT, I would have fought anyway lol. After you kick the other goalie's ass , your dad would have been too proud to kick your ass. He'd probably be braggin' all week about it, lol.

Unless the charges pressed were THAT high.

I love this rivalry, everytime the wings play the avs there are fights.

the best was I think 2 maybe 3 years ago, series was all tied up 3 - 3. Game 7 in detroit...I think we had 4 goals in the first period. ended up beating them by like 7 er something....

I don't know about the refs in that one. In the cases where the players are eyeing each other for a while, they officials usually step in and give warnings.

Fighting is part of the game whether people like it or not. I think it's a good thing actually. If players didn't have fighting as an outlet then we might see more serious stuff instead.

Dan Cloutier used to fight all the time in the earlier days. There was a beauty where he destroyed Salo a few years back when he played for Tampa I believe, hehehe.

I'm a big fan of fighting in hockey and hope it's never taken out. Usually most fights end pretty amicably. There are of course bad incidents, like the Bertuzzi one, but this is rare.
