Yet another new software based studio
View this Thread in Original format
Digital Aura
Just noticed this new addition to CAKEWALK's lineup of software titles. Looks like a home version of Project5 or something...

Any comments? Doesnt come out until the end of the month.

Cakewalk KINETIC program

hope it is better than Project 5, cause that sure was a dissapointment, and that interface

It was?

You must be comparing it with something fun to use and something with an intuitive design that barely needs a manual.... no no..wait...
THATS PROJECT5.

Then u must be comparing it with something with great samplers, a kickass softsynth and various FX plug-ins...er...wait...nope..
THATS PROJECT5 too!!!
(Actually, all kidding aside...Subtle I don't know what you found disappointing about it but I can't compare it because I have never had the need to use anything else. I would be curious what you think is so wrong with it though!?)

I don't see the magic words vst compatible but that might be a standard feature I guess.I think that would be extremely important to me.
Digital Aura
It doesnt say VST compatible!!! I noticed that they package it with cakewalk's own proprietary PSYN synth. Very nice synth BTW. This software is selling for $79USD...not bad!! Even without the VST compatibility.
Subtle
being used to Cubasem the first thing I noticed about the Project 5, was the slappy interface, the lack of functions, and the bad controls in regards of sequencing, slow workflow etc.
but I havent tested it fully it just seemed very unlikable

it should be since vanguard is vst only, and korg legacy collection is vst and standalone ... and i don't really think that a software studio makes use of a standalone synth :)

You can use vst within project 5 but you have to download a program for it.

Dont know the name anymore :(

Dude...what on earth are you talkin' about. PROJECT5 is VST compatible out of the box...

Did you meant to say that KINETIC can be VST compatible with a third party program?

without vst's I would place the program at the same quality at mtv music generator one and that sells for ten dollars used at funcoland.
Even modplug tracker is vst compatible and it is free.
As we still haven't figuired that out for sure I may be talking prematurely.

hey, did you ever heard about this forbidden, top secret software studio.. some call it the reason for everything.. propellerhead call it simple reason 2.5 ;)
dj prometheus
I tried reason and actually put it away till after I get out of music tech college. The interface is a bit too confusing for me and as I only had the demo I didn't find it worthwhile to put mass effort into it.Im on fruity now and its treatin me right ha ha ha.My dream setup would be cubase and a midi keyboard and any hardware I could get my hands on.
