I thought the bible, er religion is the basis of marriage. so shouldn't they define it?

to be fair why don't we do away with the whole legal marriage thing for both gay and straights and save that for the church, then if yo uwant the legal status, you get something else, not a marriage, a civil union er something.

that way, gays aren't ruining the integrity of marriage, yet they can still have the same benifits er whatever they want. plus, married couples are still married, says the church.

or would that seperate church and state too much?

totally agree.

Marriage has been, throughout the ages, man and wife. Its a sacred RELIGIOUS institution. You Secular people can get your own damn idea, like civil unions. You dont seem to understand that this is just as offensive as Marilyn Manson playing a pot smoking Jesus. Which, I was annoyed to read, most of you thought was a good idea  . anyways. If you expect Religious persons to keep the hell out of your lifestyle and not preach to you, dont you DARE come back at US and tell us to change our religion to include certain people so we are more "PC". Give me a ing break.

You guys are the biggest ing hypocrites ive gotten to see in a long time.

1) i can only agree with you on the natural law part in the sense that it doesnt support procreation, but being gay is also natural so you cant say that it is against natural law.

2) i dont know if 25000 is the right number but it would be really scariest to me if things like that were set in stone. people and things were meant to change and evolve. you cant be afraid of change. you have to embrace it.

3) this one isnt valid with me in any way, but that goes along with your thing about it depending who you ask.

being a straight single (in the sense that i'm not married) in america...what the do i care? it doesn't mean i have to be gay. it doesn't affect my life in any way. the only thing i think it changes is a social recognition in business situations and the ability for one gay man to gain money from the other after a split...once again doesn't affect me.

so really, other than the religious issues mentioned, what do we really ing care?
Orbax
I dont care, and I think people should stop implying that I should. The only thing that bothers me is the intrusion into a religion. They dont want just civil unions, they want marriages, rings, wedding dresses, and a priest.

THATS what pisses me off. Its like saying that because Foreign Exchange students get to live in your house, now the Homeless people can too. It makes no sense.

i only want the ring and the dress. there is no way there will be any mention of religion in my wedding (if i have one). as for marriage, if you have true commitment in your life, marriage shouldn't be anything new.

If a church wants to marry two gays fine, if they dont its their ing right not to. Now if the government wont give homo and hetro sexual couples the same union rights then there is a big problem. And if the government denys churchs the right to performe some dumb ass ceremony then there is an even bigger problem. but im not sure witch problem the gays have.
