Actually wish I could have been there after hearing about the night....
You agree with everyone else that Oakenfold actually kicked ass Saturday night? Have not heard one bad thing yet. :| |

| LOL Dave, you make it seem as if Oakenfold really sucks, and he was good for once in his life.... |

| I liked the pics, but it's just a little annoying how you have to open each one of them seperately. |

Well, he has been decent at best the several past times I've seen him.
I'm sure I still had a ton more fun at Holden/J00F than I would have had at Oakey, though :)

Alright, you got one with me in it.

Or at least, one with the back of my head. Didn't know you were right behind me man otherwise I would have said hi. I'm the guy in the weird patterned beige shirt. Man, that night was incredible. I didn't even know someone had posted a topic here until a few days ago.
That night was so friggin' packed. Just 10 minutes into D:Fuse's opening set and already the main room was full of people. And it just got fuller and fuller. About half-way through the set, I turned to my friend and told him I better start making way to the front of the DJ booth, if I was gonna get Oakey's autograph. We were way in the back too. It took me a full 40 minutes to get from the rear all the way to the front. That's just how jam packed it was. I have to give it up to D:Fuse. The man spun a great set. Best Progressive House set I've ever heard. His set was definitely on the same level as Oakenfold's. I guess it was no surprise that some people thought D:Fuse was Oakenfold. I could hear people in the crowd yelling, "Yeah! Go Oakenfold!" Sad people.
But soon enough, Oakey appeared in the last couple of minutes of D:Fuse's set and when D:Fuse saw him, he gave the guy a big hug. It's nice to see some people still have respect for the guy. Once Oakey took the decks, the already packed main room just got even more packed. You could feel it. I was in the front by then and once he started spinning you could feel a massive shove taking you another 10 yards forward. It's like if another 100 people just crammed their way into the room. I immediately pulled out my copy of Tranceport and began waving it in the air. And that was surprising, cuz I didn't see anyone else with any of his c.d. albums or vinyls. They only had flyers of the night and were giving it Oakey for signing. The only other person I saw with one of his albums was a blonde headed girl with glassses who had a copy of the Swordfish Soundtrack. I just thought that was weird.
Well anyway, I was giving the Tranceport leaflet for Oakey to sign, when a guy turned to me and said, "Holy dude, DAT'S THE ALBUM!" And I was like, "YEAH!" Finally Oakey saw it, took it from me and got a pen from someone in the back. At first he must have though t it was just another flyer. But then he took another look at it, then looked at me, in which I gave him a thumbs up sign, he smirked, and then signed it. Once he gave it back to me I pointed to him and screamed out, "YOU DA MAN!" And he laughed. That just got me going. I then went all crazy and busted out my photon lights and had a blast. Highlight of my night was when 5 fine ass girls made their way to the front and started rubbing on me. Good God did I have fun. :D
As for Oakey's set, now that I think about it, it was okay. None of the tracks really stood out to me, but sad to say I couldn't ID any one of them. The only one I recognized was Southern Sun-Gabriel and Dresden remix, that was it. But you know, Oakey could have spun nothing but cheese and the crowd still would have enjoyed it. You could just feel the energy and euphoria in that room. That's what made the night so awesome. He knew how to control the crowd. And he made every bit of that 40 dollar entrance fee worth it. I'm glad I went. |
