I seen alot of tracks with the "boot leg mix" on the track name.Wtf does this really mean....a boot leg version of the the real track or a track rip off?

Or does it mean notting?
Shudder
not a legal version or something like that..

i wouldn't say illegal...more like a promo that may or may not get a release, i think

isn't it a remix done without artist permission?
Psygnosis
A bootleg is getting a song, and combining some elements to another song.

For example getting the vocals of Armin Van Buuren - Yet Another Day and putting them in Dj Tiesto - Surburn Train. Sometimes bootlegs don't usually consist of vocals over another melody. It can be two melodies used in different areas of the song to have that feeling that there are 2 songs in 1.
Ghostface
I thought it was basically just an unauthorised remix like

BT - Force of Gravity (Ferry Corsten Bootleg)

and also stuff like Psygnosis mentioned ala Windsider - Hidden Flight

That's called a mashup. A bootleg is just something that's unauthorized.

true but seeing as nearly 100% of mashups are unauthorized then they are bootlegs too
