Things can get entertaining when the Republican party lets its media firms take creative control over certain political issues.
Here is a sneak preview of a potential ad against John Kerry:

It's kind of like the viral marketing that an ad agency did for Ford and the Sportka (you know, where the cat gets decapitated). It will probably be finished up and then passed around the internet. This won't make it on TV, unless a group like the Club for Growth sponsors it. (Known for politically risque ads). |

I always found it kinda funny when Ed Gillespie, the RNC Chairman, accused Kerry in being in bed with the French somehow, having "imaginary friends" with "French accents" as well as Kerry having a few French cousins (*gasp*!).
How interesting, then, that one of Gillespie's top clients is European Aerospace and Defense Services (EADS), the parent company of Airbus Industrie -- which assembles its planes in Toulouse, France, and happens to be largely owned and controlled by the French state. In case you were wondering, Airbus is the main competitor to Chicago-based Boeing, which has long charged that the European defense giant competes unfairly in international aviation markets with enormous subsidies from both the French and German governments. The affected workers in depressed cities like Seattle might wonder why Gillespie complains about Kerry, when his own company is raking in dollars (or euros) from Airbus.
Now Occ may jump in and say that business is not always associated with politics, and to that I am forced to agree. But you can't tell me that this is just a little ironic and hypocritical, esp. when we are talking about American jobs and American $ here, which to me has a direct tie in to our political situation. I grew up in Wichita, KS, one of the other main factory sites to Boeing, and I highly doubt that some of my old Boeing worker neighbors would feel too cheery about the RNC Chairman's close association (i.e. legal representation) with their primary competitor. Because it can and does ultimately cost them jobs.
Just a little tidbit for you conservatives to munch on when you choose to throw a little mud around. |
