Steven Harper has promised tax cuts and a balanced budget. Something we need in this country. Did you know the federal liberals have a 28 BILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS? Thats $28 billion more money taken from us than they actually need!

After the fleecing that dullton Mcsquinty put us through yesterday, it should be enough to make you vote conservative next month so we can get some of that back at the federal level. Not to mention all the money martin and friends stole over the last 12 years.

My, some people quickly forget about the last 8 years of hell that we've endured in this province.

and everyone wants there cake and eat it too.

Sometimes we have to give a little to rectify years of damage, and if you think for one momeent that the PCs are the answer, then you obviously have been living under your bed for 8 years or are siding with the affluent of society.

what we will end up paying is MINISCULE. Refer to todays globe and mail for a breakdown.

You want to yell and complain, then feel free to pay a visit to Ernie Eves, and Mr. Mike Harris, our obtuse former leader.

I fully agree... the Conservatives have been cutting cutting and cutting... and it shows in schools and hospitals. I am willing to give these tax hikes a chance if there is substantial improvement in healthcare and education.

okay, I'll retract my earlier statement, because I simply haven't looked at the new budget yet... all I was aware of was cig/alcohol tax, healthcare premiums..

when McGuinty took office, and they found out about the deficit, I was expecting McGuinty to break his promise about taxes... but he has also broken other promises that are inexcusable.

will discuss with peers in Political Science tomorrow.

to allow others to get MRI's and CAT scans done.. i don't mind having to pay an extra/tax premium for my eye exam so that someone who's maybe suffering from a critical illness can get the treatment they need..

with everything's there's a tradeoff.. and nor is there one right answer

Something to think about

health care math...

47% of Canada's governmental operating budget goes to health care. Take an average income of $50,000. After income taxes and sales taxes alone you are already paying half in taxes.

So that means 25,000 of your money is paid as taxes and around 12,000 goes to health care. Now please tell me... would a private insurance company ever charge $12,000 per year per person for health care? Americans usually pay around $4000 per FAMILY. and that $12,000 isnt even including what private insurance covers through work which now includes EVEN MORE thanks to mcsquinty as of yesterday.

If this doesnt illustrate what waste our current system produces, i dont know what does.

Again, WE EACH PAY $12,000 per year for a CRAPPY health care system with huge waiting times...

Money is not the answer... REFORM IS

wells ur reform is gonna hav to wait atleast another 4 years.. atleast in Ontario

sadly it will probably be a lifetime unless some catastrophy happens.

I agree with both you and Matt.

We knew that we'd be paying for the severe consequences left behind by our former gov.

I have read the globe and mail articles today, which enlist in full detail the extent of which we'll pay, AND I REPEAT IT'S MINISCULE.

In the end, the plan could have been ammended to suit the public's taste, but we'd still be screaming because long-term care would be penalized, and hospitals, and education.

I apologise for saying this to the person who commenced this thread, but I really think you should do your research before embarking on a political rant; you are not very discernable in these matters, and one must know ALL the facts before contesting.

I have worked in government long enough, and my partner has been politically involved for many years. In the future, please reserve your comments for the political section of this website.

exactly which part of what i said was not true? I think im quite discernable thank you very much.

As for putting it in another section of the site...

if you dont like it.. dont click on it and definately dont respond to it ;)
