Are the DJs voted according to just their mixing skills, or their productions as well?

I suppose its just a popularity contest anyway.....

according to popularity, so both things help but are not crucial. marketing and public image are more important. respectability is key too, uber-commercial edm artists never get any cred (Darude, Sammy et. al.)

ADD came out in 2002. Sasha was #1 in 2001, then in 2002 he moved down to #2 when Tiësto became king.

ok...that's true, but i would have to think that it had a little bit more to do with tiesto's great remixing from that time period as opposed to a failure in ADD...it was really well recieved...

both of course... well at least that is the fair thing to do imo.

Yeah it was well recieved, especially by the critics. But it didn't really sell much.

Tiësto's ascent was due to a convergence of many factors but mainly due to his strategic conquest of the UK (where most of the votes come from) and Holland with the TIESTO SOLO tour and his first few comprehensive tours of the US after the successful release of ISOS 3 and In My Memory.

u no i hv realized lately... tiesto is #1 in the world is not coz he's the greatest DJ, it is that he puts all of his heart into his set, and production. u can really feel the emotion espcially in his music.

for PVD, he plays the same style all the time. boring! + u dont feel the Emotion u feel from tiesto's.

LOLOLOL...... pvd plays the same style all the time? I can actually say that pvd plays some of the most diverse sets you can hear. If you dont believe me, go to one of his concerts, id every single track and you'll see how crazy a party he can throw. on top of that his mixing is so nice.........

alot of ppl seem to be putting newish djs very high eg. Mark Norman, Above and Beyond, Gabriel + Dresden etc. I think it will be more of the same old although i reckon armin will drop out of the top 5, my predictions:

1. Paul van dyk
2.Tiesto
3. Sasha
4. one of the other big djs ie, digweed, cox, etc.
5. ferry corsten

jules will still be in the top 10
matt hardwick could move up a fair bit
hopefully adam sheridan will do well
Wildfir3
I can't see why some people can call armin the new tiesto:

1. he just copies tiesto's behaviour (being all super enthousiastic & all)
2. he hasn't produced a single OMFGHI2U class track

just all a state of hype imo
