Earlier this week I decided to do some house cleaning, so I gathered all the old and broken stuff I had in my room and took it to the "garbage room".
When I got there I simply opened up the door, turned on the lightswitch and I saw something in the corner on the room.
A turntable, a freaking 1210MK2 was just sitting there!!
I left the stuff I brought with me and ran home with the 1210.
When I got home I noticed that the black powerswitch knob was missing.
So I had to open up the turntable and install the metall thingy in place again. Pluged the powercord in to the wall, turned on the switch and voila!! It worked!
Everything seemed to be in order, the lights, the pitch controll and the platter was in mint condition.
The stylus was missing, so I quickly ordered a new one. I still was alittle suspicious as if it would really work. I mean who the hell throws away a 1210 just because the powerknob is missing?
Anyways, Got the stylus the otherday and plugged it in.
It worked!
I'm still amased that someone threw it out the window so to speak. But what do I care huh? I got a a expensive, perectly working turntable for free. :D
I'm so happy I found it. :)

I'm Guessing he means some sort of public waste disposal place, or a communual area in a block of flats or something, hence why it wasnt his 1210. |

U do know someone's gonna go round asking his turntable back, do ya? :)
Nobody just throws away a SL unless it's completely wasted. There's always enough buyers who'd want a slightly damaged SL for quite a load of money |

Even if someone does go around wanting it back.... Finder's keepers. That's awesome. I wouldnt mind finding an extra table in the trash sometime.
When I was little I found a working lighter in my neighbor's trash - that provided hours of entertainment. |

I found an Atari STe at the side of the road once soaked from being out in the rain-dried it out and opened it up to check it- was fully fully expanded.
Is now the master computer in my studio-never ever crashed. Pefect in every way, nothing needed replacing at all.

| I dont know how it goes in sweden, but when something is put in the garbage in the US, I beleive it is legally abandoned and up for grabs to whoever wants it (granted that you're not tresspassing on someones yard or something to rummage through their trash cans) |

Pretty much...it's not technically yours under the law but it's not like the owner is going to go after you for it, they did throw it out afterall. |
