This is totally awesome! Just got my M1 permit, and in a month I'm hopefully getting my M2 from this driving school. Expensive though, all this is going to cost me about four bills CAD...
But it's just another step closer to owning this beauty
Anyone else here ride or plans to in the near future? SHOW ME SOME LOVE!!!!111 |

M1... M2? wtf is that? here in ohio, instead of taking the on-cycle test for a license i took a "motorcycle safety course" in which the state provides you with a bike and helmet, and you go 3 days for most of the day and learn the basics of manuervering a motorcycle. after you complete the class, you automatically get a motorcycle license! best part... the class only cost USD$25! now the real obstacle... saving up enough money to buy my new bike!
:D

Duuude that looks like a touring bike, why would you want that? At least get some farings on that.
And R1s are sexy machines, though.
Yeah in Canada you get different levels of liscences. Like with M1 you can't drive at night or with passangers for example. M2 is the next level up, and finally there's the M for people that really know their . |

oh i see... in the states you take a written test and you can get a temporary license just like that... no passengers, no riding after dark, no riding on major interstates, and it expires in 1 year. imo the MS course is the way to go to get your "real" license here...
btw, yes it does look like a touring bike, well sort of. it is a Yamaha FZ6. it just came out at the end of last year and it is mostly sport, part touring. the position you sit in on it is a more laid back one and it isn't so hunched over. this is ideal because i ride more than just 5 mins down the road, i like long backcountry trips :D . if you check yamaha's stats page it is basically identical to the yamaha YZF-R6 except in looks. and as far as the fairings go, i'm not too concerned with having 2 extra plastic wings attached to the bike, i think its a sharp looking cycle as it is! i will admit i am still trying to make a final choice between the FZ6 and the YZF-R6:nervous: |

My Baby: 1998 Honda VFR 800cc Interceptor. Single rear swing arm, gear driven cams. 105hp at rear wheel. Ive taken it to 145 so far. Nothing special. Windshields make you not even realize you are going that fast. Cornering is where youll feel your nuts shrivel :p

I took an MSF (motorcycle safety Foundation) course as well. It drops your insurance (youll want collision, liability, and *theft*). You also take your test through them and that way just go to DMV and pay your endorsement. We used to be certified by cc class here! like you could ride up to 600s, or 450s, or 1000s, etc...now its just unlimited.
In all honesty, 80% of bikers are unlicensed, uninsured, and will never be caught or pulled over. Cops dont ever pull you over if you are being even semi-normal in driving. And just say that all your is under your seat and you left your alan wrench at home. Theyll just check your license to see if you have any record and then let you go.
but, if you get your stolen, or are in an accident, its your ass and you are totally screwed.
I pay 40 bucks a month for my 5500 dollar bike and thats with the aforementioned insurances. Also, if you have a car, its even cheaper to package it in. I pay 600 a year, some people only pay like 40...a year. so see what you can get. |

those black bolts on the side of the rear cowling (thing covering up passenger seat) is held on by a hexagonal bit.

i cant get to the storage area under my seat without removing it |

| is it hard to ride a motorcycle? one friend of mine was learning on his buddies bike. i think he said he gave it to much gas or something and flipped putting himself and the bike in a ditch. bike was dead and he needed to get his head sewed up. i'd like to learn one of these days though. |
