I've heard a lot of good things about Ecler in general, they're even said to be a rodec-beater and all.

Then again i've heard Eclers have sucky faders. BUT the service is fast as hell so if u have to get faders and all replaced, u won't have to wait for ur mixer for too long.

Never worked with an ecler myself though, so can't say anything about it.

i got its lil brother the smac pro 30, and i really really like it. sound quality is great, i can play it so loud w/o any distortion in recording or anything. never tried the effects send yet, so i dunno how that goes, but the kills are nice, eq's are good, knobs feel smooth and solid and most of all, i just like how the volume faders are slanted :stongue: . something different for a change

...not to hijack this thread, but a real quick question for djtrinity:

on that xone 92, how was the crossfader curve? I wanted to use it for technical scratching. I was wondering how big of a difference the crossfader curve is vs. a xone 32.

I dont like how the xone 32 crossfader curve isnt sharp enough. I was wondering if I am able to sharpen up the crossfader curve on the xone 92. I know that the curve is adjustable, but is the curve on the xone 92 sharp enough for not only scratch mixing (which doesnt need a sharp curve at all), but for technical scratching?

i don't scratch.....sorry;)

I have a Xone:32 and the crossfader curve is very adjustable. I don't scratch, but it seems that it can be adjusted to a very sharp curve.

Regarding the Ecler, I've played on a mate's Smac Pro 20 (or was it a 30...), and it's very nice. The knobs are smooth and solidly built, good LED display, I liked that the faders are slanted too trancinchink ;) and the kills are great. The one negative thing I have to say about them though, is that the faders aren't built very well. They are nice to use, but they are fragile. This was further proved to me when someone was a bit rough on my mate's Ecler and one of the faders was damaged to the point that the signal was cutting in and out when you touched it.

thanx for the info...sound quality compared to your 32??

I couldn't really say, as not only did that mate of mine have average and small JBL monitors at the time, but I really didn't pay much attention. I guess all I can really tell you is that it didn't sound below average, cos although I wasn't consciously paying attention to the sound quality, I would have noticed had it sounded awful. Doesn't answer your question though.

I've been researching mixers for a while now and I plan on getting the SMAC 40.

I have the pre-40 (the 42) and I am very happy with it. Again my main gripe with it are the quality of the faders. But I've heard that the faders on the Pro 40 are better than on the 42 so who knows. I can't comment on the kills or effects in because the 42 doesn't have those... I am very happy with its sound quality too.
