View this Thread in Original format
Subtle
plus
cool effects
good percussion
I love the breakdown (!)
nice melody
nice lift-off
love the melody

minus
a little intense
first melody maybe 10-20% too high
needs a little cleaning maybe
the outro is a little long
was excpecting another breakdown and lift off..

conclusion
there sure is an awesome melody, and very good synths, very good arrangement, with som pretty cool effects.. some small adjustments and mastering and this is sure as hell an outstanding tune.. I think this tune needs to be about 9 minutes with 2 breakdowns..

keep it going ;)

The Good
Decent array of samples, keeps the mix fresh and moving.

The Bad
We've all heard this bassline a billion times before. Try working with some more creativity with the sample.
Some of the samples, mainly percussion, get lost in the song. Hihats are blasted into inaudible "clicks". There seems to be nothing but the hihat panned. There also seems to be no reverb or compression what-so-ever, making the entire mix fairly flat.

Overall
We've heard much of this all before, so i only say this track is OK. Work on EQing things, adding compression and reverb.

sounds pretty mint, bass is a bit thin and sounds rather sqauareish which is ok but doesnt fit too well. there is a load of clipping. build doesnt really build, it just starts too intense and doesn't go anywhere. break is nice and melody is excellent. the high frequencies seem to be a bit non-existant and the percs sound fairly dry and poor quality. some of the fx are somewhat too loud and something just doesnt sit together with the tune sounding right for me. good effort, but sort the levels :) :p

John
heey mate, this is some good ! love the breakdown and the fx are awesome. melody is nice too imo and the synths are good:)
you need to fix the levels though, like luke said. and i was expecting a second breakdown/climax, now the outro seems a little long too me.
nice track!

Hi guys!
Thanks for the nice comments! I was thinking about a second Breakdown, will take a look at it again :D.
Arghh i thought this time the master was good, most of the times i have too much high freq. What should be the limit for the highs? 5db? And should the perc be on a high or low freq?

Thanks! Glad you like it.

Nice stereo tune m8 ;)

It is clipping indeed, the absolute limit for everything is 0 db! You're using fruity right? Try to put "Inspector" or so on the Master channel and make sure nothing clips. Or just begin with turning the volume of the instruments down, helped for me... Many ambient things going on, nice job on that. Could you mention the vst's you used for them?

Nice work!
Avro
was there a repost cause I dont hear any clipping - unless my system isn't good enough to pick it up.

but anyway really killer tune. I personally think that the bassline is fairly unique and has variety. However I am a fan of baseline melodies changing within the intro. IMHO if the intro is not exciting the whole song isnt exciting. (into = first 2 min)

you know how there are some tracks you can put on and listen from start to finish, and then there are others that you have to skip through the first couple mins? well I find myself wanting to skip to the breakdown.

A+ work tho

How can one measure repeated, constantly, in the standard Euro-style that anybody who can hit an arp can play in..unique or with variety?

Its all about taste ;)
dbl
sounds really nice... i think that the lead could be stronger thou...

EternalMusic
Thanks dbl!

Jay thanks for the Stereo advice! :D. I dont have a specific VST to make the ambience part. Sometimes I just play with a strange sound i find , add some reverb delay, (stereo:D), and thats it :). For these FX i used Claw,Pro53,FM7.

Thanks again for your support :).

At first listen I said to myself, this is an awesome track. Excellent mastering and great sound.
After a while I heard some frequences sticking out in the sound effects and in the melody at times. Too loud imo.
The bassline kicks ass, and the main melody is excellent.

But it needs mastering with frequences and maybe you should consider using the main melody somewhere in the end too, I was enjoying it, and hoped for some more to come, but I got bored with the monotonic sound throughout the whole track after that.

It was a great start, but then it got all boring...too bad, I hope you do something about it, cuz it could be one **** of a track if you just fixed the small problems in it. I'm not much into this stuff about producing, but I hope you see what I mean.
Good work :D
