Hey-
I have those same monitors. They use 1/4th inch plugs and you need to have a cable with a 1/4th inch to RCA- like this:

i wouldn't use that type of cable as my first choice, broken silence. Since both the mixer and speakers have balanced outputs, i would strongly recomend that you should take advantage of it. Get TRS-TRS cables.
The one pictured by broken silence is ts-rca (not a balanced interconnect) |

| How much of an impact is there if you don't use balanced inputs? |

What do you think of the speakers? Recommend them?
I intend to use them 5+ hours per day, everyday but not always loud. |

It really depends on the situation, lots of times it can make a huge difference, and sometimes it makes almost no difference.
Here's a quote from Rane's website about "Sound System Interconnection" Link:
http://www.rane.com/note110.html
| quote: |
A balanced line requires three separate conductors, two of which are signal (+ and -) and one shield (see Figure 1a). The shield serves to guard the sensitive audio lines from interference. Only by using balanced line interconnects can you guarantee (yes, guarantee) hum-free results. Always use twisted pair cable. Chassis tying the shield at each end also guarantees the best possible protection from RFI [radio frequency interference] and other noises [neon signs, lighting dimmers].

| AHHHHHHH! No wonder I get hums out of my Event PS6's. Thanks Chex! |

| no problem! ;) Rane has some very useful and interesting articles on their website about audio system setup, bandwidth calculator, cable length calculator, sound processing guides and other crazy tech stuff. |

Bah, thats rubbish. I have my M1's connected with those same cables- have them on ALL day long, never shut off, and never had a problem with hum.
About the m1s- they're just about the best quality until you can get Mackies- in my opinion (and quite a few M1 owners at that)at least. They're great sound and worth way more than what they're priced at!
I plan to use mine until I can manage to grab Mackie HR824s :) which wont be for a while heh heh :) |

like i said before, it really depends on the situation. While at home i have no problems w/ my cheapo radioshack rca cables, but when i take my gear to otherplaces, i did get ground loops and other unwanted crap i didn't like. Also, how long are your cables? if they're longer, you will be more likely to pick up RF-noise. (unbalanced cables can act like an antenna) If they are short (less than 10ft) less noise will be picked up.
1/4" TRS cables are not too much more expensive than regular 1/4" TS cables. I would take a trs-trs over a ts-ts, or ts-rca in a heartbeat.
As for XLR compared to TRS i see no real advantage other than durability.
I've been helping w/ setting up audio equipment w/ my church for the past year, and the first time they got their new gear setup, they and a really annoying ground loop during the service, and they also picked up CB radio transmissions from the near highway during the service. Good balanced interconnects, proper wiring, and grounding makes a world of difference. |

On the site it says:
"PLEASE NOTE: Driver units/tweeters are not covered by warrenty"
How long do the speakers last?
I don't want to purchasing a replacement every 12months :( |
