Wats up with Violence?
Wat's up with violence? seriously, we are living in the 21st century where we are free to do mostly legal things, but what's up with the world lately, here in Australia n pretty much a large portion of this globe, can someone please explain to me the excentricies (sp?) of why people must pick fights, condone violent behaviour n other downright spastic n a little archaic (another sp?) behaviour.
It's getting pretty ridiculous, all you ever hear on the news is about someone killed, stabbed, punched to the ground, assalted, why? for a mobile, for $20, for not liking the look they gave them? Wat is up with society, 5 years ago was the world this crazy?
Has the world gone completely bonkers, and why do so many people blame it on alcohol? Like guns don't kill people, people do, the same should go with alcohol?
I seriously don't get the fascination of beating sumone up cause you can/ or are weaker than the rest? Like come on, if you wanna challange someone shouldn't you challange their intelligence than just how strong they are?
Living in the 21st Century, isn't it a little neanderthal to be fighting, come on like how B.C. (b4 christ) is that crap really... if you wanna fight go back in time n fight for the romans or something, go fight back in he days of troy or where kings ruled europe, chuck a robin hood n go make your own bow and arrow.
I still don't see why people must fight?
What are they really proving? |

yes, the world has always been crazy. Violence is a part of human nature, always has been, always will be. |

| Most violence will exist as long as poverty exists. |

I know, the world is pretty violent and people are stupid and selfish and act violently when things can be settled without it.
If you dont understand why people are violent, study animal behavior. Because we are basically animals. |

I doubt it. I think its part of human behavior, our genetics. |

| Lets say we are all wealthy, someone will always want to be richer, more powerful. Its not about poverty, its about greed, jealousy, power, control. |

as far-fetched as it may sound, i think we are actually living in a less-violent world..albeit not a particulary saner one
If you think about it, life was a hell of a lot more bloody and violent in the Ancient Roman times, cos they had gladiator fights and mock battleship fights. People actually went to the coliseum to see people die.
Also there was the SPanish Inquistion during the Middle Ages that killed and/or tortured a lot of people. The Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, Witch Hunts, the Crusades..
war will always be a violent and bloody thing, but at least we've gone past the point of seeing violence as a public spectacle..
But i do agree with you that sense-less violence (shooting a guy for his sneakers or for like 20 bucks) is just that: senseless. |

The human element :) Shakesphere's literature is famous for this. |

perhaps its the thing of just staying alive, our animal instinct to survive by any means necessary... but i dont see how that can be justified for trying to beat someone up or something... |

Yesterday on the discovery i saw a animal show. A badger (or something like that) killed a praire dog because the praire dogs were making sounds of communication between themselves and the badger found it annoying so he killed one. The praire dogs still didnt shut up. So, what justifies this kill? |

i concur. society is generally less violent than when compred to the past.
altho now we have weapons that can kill lots of people at once. shooting a missle is a little different than swining a sword
but violence is part of "human nature" (whatever the feck that is). it results from people's needs to survive, natural selection etc.
but i'm too lazy to elaborate |
