Filesharing

Now now I know you might have your panties in a bunch when you saw the title of this thread, but hear me out.
This site doesn't support filesharing because it is illegal in the United States of America. However, it is legal in Canada, and some other places such as Australia and Europe.
So, why is it that because some of our American friends cannot share files, that the rest of the world cannot discuss it here? Isn't that taking away a great topic to discuss and more importantly free speech away from TrancEaddict?
I might understand if you said that we couldn't post links to full songs or albums, but to go as far as saying that we cannot say the word Kazaa or mIRC in the same sentence as MP3s is just stupid.
Voice your opinion below without closing this thread. I know its tempting but let us discuss without closing the thread.
Thanks.
Maccez. |

here is some information you need to know about asking for mp3's and where to get them.
Tranceaddict does not support filesharing!
so please do not make any threads asking where to get them or how to get them or else i shall leave you to the mercy of the TA massive and they shall take it upon themselves to flame you whenever they can.
your name will go down in the TA archives so that you will be remebered and when people meet you in real life, they shall know who to urinate on and then brand you as a leecher who has no concern for the artists that make the tunes we all listen to
Let this be a warning to you |
maby we should tell artists you email address, and that you are shareing their tracks? |

yes filesharign is leagal, but NOT filesharing of illeagal files (i.e. copywrighted music) TA could be closed down if it encourages filesharing, hence no mentioning it.
This IS NOT a music discussion thread, it should be in the chillout room or something. Stop clogging up the forum with this crap thanks. |

That's actually not true. The file-sharing of music, movies, and software is legal in some places such as Canada. |

nope. biggest pile of bull i've ever heard. Even if it was true, most EDM is made in europe and therefore the copyrights still apply. Our EDM artists could still sue YOU for downloading their music, no matter where you are in the world. But anyway i know your wrong as there was a massive case with bryan adams and downloading in canada not so long ago. |

| But do people not download out of principle, or because they don't have the means/knowhow? |

Maybe you're not familiar with the happenings here, but there was a court hearing dealing with the filesharing of music and the ruling was that it is not illegal.
Now with that said, it doesn't mean that I support the sharing of music, but imagine this scenario: You want to buy an album of your fav artist, but first you want to get the idea how the album sounds, and with no sampelers on the net, your next source is a P2P. So you download a couple of tracks for reference how the album sounds, and if you like it you go to your local music store and purchase the album. If you didn't like the samples from the P2P then you don't get the album and you're happy you didn't.
This thread isn't meant to start flame-wars but to simply bring out some good discussion. If you cannot keep your cool while discussing this then don't post anything. |
