tampa and their bandwagon fans |
Woah...bandwagon fans? I've always been a Lightning fan. Of course I was a Gretzky fan first, but that was only because the Lightning haven't always been around. I've been to more than my share of games...some of them on my own. I even went to see Wayne play against Brent (by myself) during Brent's short stint with the Lightning. |

i disagree,.. you as a transplant might view it differently,.. i have lived in Tampa my entire life and only knew people that were from Tampa and had family from the surrounding Tampa area,.. south Tampa is very much so like that and up North closer to where you and I both live now is a bit different b/c its much newer and has more of the so called transplants, but I do know of many areas in Tampa that has none of this,... ok and as far as sporting in Tampa, we might not be as educated in the sport of hockey as our counterparts from the north, but if the majority of fans had to pick one then the Lightning would be their numero uno choice,... that goes for the Bucs too,... people have always loved our beloved Bucs and we definitely had some frustrating years, but with the new stadium, colors/logo, owner, and the all around attitude things have really changed for the love of the Bucs,... I sport my orange Bucs jersey with ZEWADSKI on the back with pride.... we wouldnt be the Bucs today without the trying times of yesterday!! GO LIGHTNING, BUCS and what would a Tampa team be without being ty first,.. GO DEVIL RAYS,... <--(their time will come too) :D |
devil rays definetly need the bandwagon treatment....went to a game last week...wow they must have packed 5-6k people in there... brent, noone went to lightning games till last year when they started to get good....sports radio is non stop bucs talk...they barely used to mention the score of the hockey games....and most of the time when the good north teams were in town say like Detroit...the hockey rink was full of RED/White jerseys.....620am used to talk about this all the time.............heck same was true i hear with green bay fans filling your stadium once a year just a few years back...
New T - Shirt idea
Got Bandwagon? on front Tampa Bay Lightning on back :haha: |

I couldn't agree more. I was born and raised in Tampa. My father raised my brother and I to be fans no matter what. My father was a Dolphins fan initially because Tampa didn't have the Bucs until the late 70's, but once we did the Dolphins went to second on his list. I was raised on hockey and since I didn't have a team to follow I chose to follow a legend instead...Wayne Gretzky. I was never really a fan of any of the teams that Gretzky was on (well, except for the Oilers). While other girls played with girly I collected hockey stuff. No lie. I still have the cards, books, videos, and other stuff to prove it. I was so hardcore that my walls were covered with Gretzky posters. Of course I also followed other players, but no one as closely as Gretzky. Once Tampa had the Lightning I was excited that I was going to have the opportunity to see Wayne right here in the Tampa Bay area. When he played against his brother, Brent, I went by myself because at that time I didn't know anyone else that shared my same passion for hockey. I know a lot of people that go to almost every game and have for years. Sure it took some people a while to get turned onto hockey, but what do you expect when they are raised in an environment in which they were never really exposed to it?
Bottom line...I have been a fan since day one. They deserve to win and I congratulate them on their success. |

| I don't usually watch hockey but when I do I go for the home team. Since I'm originally from Tampa, I'm gonna cheer the Lightning. |

ha! youre already bickering about why you cheer for your team, and thinking about how many people will call it a fluke that they got there when they lose. ;) Think of all the people with those jerseys that they will never wear!
Game 1 tonight, I predict a lightning win. |
