my biggest buzz was when i was able to perfectly mix in a breaks track for the first time. it was Burufunk's Remix of Somnambulist, mixed into the Chris Fortier Dub of Fortunato & Montresor's Imagine. felt damn good. then, when i nailed Before You Break on Me into the mix, i was smiling for a good 10 mins.
and yeah, when you put on that next record, and it's kind of already pitched, i get paranoid, keep saying it can't be pitched perfectly off the bat... heh |

tends to happen a lot with drum n bass records- they are often very similar speeds- ive done quite a few in a row that needed literally no adjustment. |

I hear you on that man, i do my best mixing when i've just smoked. I can just feel the music better and get into the groove.
Since I'm just beginning I tend to have a little trouble sometimes, earlier i took two records that I never tried mixing before because I didnt think they would, and low and behold it was one of the best mixes I've done yet. |

When I'm really tearing up on the decks, I get a huge buzz. Today I was mixing house and techno records really fast and playing around with tricks and stuff, and all over sudden when I took off my headphones it was 3 hours later, my heart was racing, and I felt like I was rolling... it's like a drug-free high.
Do you guys ever get that feeling when you're on? |
All the time! I generally session everyday right before I go to the gym; It completely energizes me to exercise. I get so excited and involved that I have to chew gum while I mix, or I will unknowingly clench the H*LL out of my jaw. |

| I love the feeling when your just mixing and your mix just sounds incredible, going on pure instinct and your just rocking out loud having tons of fun, dancing and smiling at the amazing sounds coming out of your speakers. I can imagine its even better when you do this at a club and the whole club goes wild when the break hits on that perfectly mixed song. |

Each time I get up behind the decks, I become completely engulfed and I become my alter ego.

That's hilarious. I thought I was the only one who would chew gum while doing a set. And I do that for the same reason. Also, I do things completely opposite. I go to the gym first and then spin to unwind. It is kinda like a cool-down period for me. Working out kinda lets me take care of any stress and frustrations and then spinning just kinda helps me forget about everything all together. Perfect combination. |

| Yes having a good mixing session is indeed very energizing... but whenever I have an "off" day, it puts me in the worst mood and ruins the entire day. So usually I keep putting on new tracks forcing myself to continue so that I don't leave the decks completely pissed off. |
