Reivew of new Technincs CD Player

Allright I just got a chance to try out the new technics CD player @ Guitar center....

All I can say is.... WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK!!!! Has anyone else tried these yet??? IT really looks and feels like a toy...

The silver platter feels like a piece of paper. The buttons don't seem to be in very good positions at all... And the center screen is all but useless, you can barely read anything on it...
The torque of the motror seemed the same, but with heavy scratching it was nothing like my 1200's. The platter seemed to lag alot.

As for the sound quality, nothing that great at all.. The scratching sounds sort of like the denon's. No where near as good as the Pioneers.

And they're only charging $1199.00 for it!!!

For that price go get yourself 2 denon S3000s or 2 cdj 800's... Either blow these things away!!!

What a total dissapointment these things are....At least now I don't have to go out and waste $2400.00 on new CD palyers.

these things looked so cool. disappointing to hear how much of a let-down they are.

Those new Numark cd players look good (the ones with the vinyl on top)...there was a vid posted here a little while ago. Too bad the technics ones aren't good...I expected they would be great, I guess they just look good.

This is only my opinion.... To me they are a let-down... but someone else may love them....

Maybe I'm just used to certain things since I've used both the pioneer and denon decks alot.

You should at least try them and see if you like them before you make your own conclusions about the player.

I found the cdj1000s to be utter e- maybe i will like the technics... who knows.

I'd really like to hear a review on the Numarks, supposedly they are much better than the Techs in every deparment so far, according to what I've been reading on other forums. If anybody gives em a try, make sure to post your opinion here . . .

I must say, when I first saw this post a few days ago I was like "No way, those things look so sweet; He's got be exaggerating!"

Well, my hats off to you pumavisor because you hit the nail right on the head. I just got back from having a fiddle with them and I was completely shocked at the overall feel. The looks of the player are incredible but the touch of it.....bah.

I anxiously await the arrival of the Numark.

i recently bought a dz1200 after playing with it for awhile...indeed at first touch it wasnt what i expected...however after now using it almost every day for about 2 weeks i love it...plus i dont scratch...it just takes a bit to get used to the feel of the platter. there is a few improvements i wish they made, like make the slip platter a bit tighter and add a wave form display like the pioneers...but overall now that i settled into them im happy.

I was looking on DJstore.co.uk and their review of it (rember it's a shop... ) seemed pretty honest.

Here it is - the long awaited CD player from Technics that made it's debut at PLASA at Earls Court last year - and was one of the highlights of the show - for one reason, and one reason only - because it says Technics and it's a CD player.

We're in two minds about this deck here at DJ Store - on the plus side, it's an interesting, highly specified CD player that's got a good feature set, and has taken some of the most interesting features of competitors CD players, such as the rotating platter, the on-board sampler and the use of SD cards, and done some interesting things with them - such as the ability to save the scratch you perform to the SD card, and recall it as required.
BUT - there really isn't anything new here - anything we have not seen before - and this really doesn't offer anything you can't get from a Pioneer or Denon CD player, thanks to the knowledge and experience that these two giants of CD manufacturer have gained over many years. It will sell, simply because it says Technics on it, but I doubt it will knock the Pioneer CDJ1000 MkII off the top spot when it comes to CD players.

you also got to understand this is the first generation of their brand cd players. Wait till they come out with the next set, i'm sure they'll fix all the little problems like they did with the CDJ-1000.
