Well it'd be about 10,000 degrees Celcius, so you'd be burnt to a crisp within microseconds. Also the gravitational pull that's strong enough to hold all that rock and water and atmosphere in place would shrink you to miniscule size well before you got close to the core.

But I don't think you'd be crushed.. cause without going into the law of gravitation (believe me I could talk for ages on this) if the distance from the center of mass is zero (which it would be if you were in the core of the earth) then the function would become a divide by zero.
Shmeh.. whatever, I'll stick to my vision of floating around in the center of the earth. :stongue: |

Umm how do you plan to get exactly to the zero distance from the centre of mass of the object instantly to avoid being crushed?? :rolleyes:
Oh and just to let you know, you would still be crushed at the EXACT centre of the earth because gravity doesnt just work from the centre of one body to the centre of the next, thats just a mathematical simplification.....

I can see this turning into an intellectual debate... BUT!
Once your inside a body of mass the Center of Mass becomes pretty much irrelevant.. you have the think about the body being cut into little peices and if you are in the center of a sphere then the pieces would all exert a force onto you.. but the net direction of the force would be... nowhere. Hence you wouldn't go anywhere.. You'd just be pulled apart.
(Wonder if that's what happens in a black hole....)
*edit* On thinking about it a little more.. you wouldn't be pulled apart cause the magnitude of the force coudln't be more than it is if you are standing on the surface on the earth.

You do realise that the whole point of this thread is to let people know what you would do if you won tattslotto. I don't think i'd care much about the 350,000 i'd have to spend.
umm, take another look, which one do you think would be a bigger " magnet" ???
And for the record, the Lotus Elise has extremely firm suspension, which is something that derives from being so low to the ground. In other words you have to have a butt of steel to be comfortable. |
