9 chances out of ten those .mid files contain sysex messages (there exist specific sysex files .syx too).
Those messages are usually used to perform Brand/Model related functions, like loading/dumping banks. As they are generally not needed in a song, those sysex messages are filtered out by default.
Just check the midi part with the list editor. If you see sysex somewhere, you're set.
Go to the preferences of Cubase, and there you can set the midi filter properties. Uncheck the sysex on playback (if you wanna dump from the A-station, uncheck sysex on recording). When it's checked it means it filters out sysex messages, you need to let them through for the transfer to happen.
Now, I'm not familiar with the A-station. I hope you have some kind of manual. There should be a chapter about requesting and dumping sysex messages. Just do what they say to request sysex. As those messages are no longer filtered out by the sequencer, it should work. |

| Windows Media Player loads them fine. That's how I load my patches. Maybe you knew it already but just in case. :) |

| You need to dump the system exclusive (sysex) information in the midi file out to the synth. Your sequencer should be able to do this otherwise you will need to use a patch editor designed to work with your synth. You will also have to turn on the synths ability to receive the sysex information. You might want to save your default settings first (dump the sysex to your comp.) first otherwise you could loose your default sounds. |

Import the mid file into cubase. Set the midi channel and port to that of your a-station and hit play. Nothing has to be done on the a-station it will recognise the sysex data and load the patches.
If the patches were for the k-station or v-station they probably wont work! They use a different device ID within the sysex messages, which the a-station wont recognise. |

do you have experience with the a-station? I have the Club4k bank from vengeance-sound.de and it says in the description that it is compatable with the a-station as well.. :conf: |

| Load the midi, set the tempo to around 120 and press play. Make sure your hardware is set to receive and you should be all set. |

I have an a-station and use cubase. I have not tried the club4k bank but have tried k-station patches. Had to go into midi-ox and alter the device code from k-station to a-station to get it loaded!!
(PS Just checked the club4k bank it has the wrong sysex id, 41h instead of 40h. Have manually altered the file and now it loads into the a-station no problem) |
