I'd say save up some cash by selling some descent Technics beating turntables (st-150 clones) like akiyama acura's or synq xtrm-1 or something. Use the cash to get a better mixer and you're set and you won't need to upgrade for a few years (maybe the mixer afterwards if u've got too much money)

Don't go into this thing with the intention of making money off it. You won't get nearly as far if it's your main motivation man.

Well than my friend, you chose the wrong hobby for the wrong reasons.

I don't want to DJ for money(much). I mainly want to do it because it's something I've always wanted to do(since septembar last year). I'm going to get something up for freelancing, make some money off of that.
Vlad
Let me put it this way... your not gonna be making much money unless you have club residencies or your pvd. You either do it because you love it, or dont do it at all.

yup, it's pretty much all about fun. I don't think i would enjoy it as much if i "had" to spin every friday/saturday night. Then again i wouldn't know since i've never spinned in front of an audience :)

Do you think that's a good deal for the SL1200MK2?

Look at those.

I don't know why you're buying the MK2 for $500 plus shipping at djmart. You can get the MK5 for much less, and the MK2 for maybe a little bit less than the MK5. I bought my MK5's from www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com. I bought them one at a time, about 3 months apart... the first one cost me $451 including shipping, the second cost me $437 including shipping. Their service is professional and their shop has very good customer ratings. The MK5 still sells on their site for $412, which imo, is a downright f*cking bargain. The MK5G is even under five hundred dollars at $493!

My advice, if you're set on getting technics, you might aswell get the MK5 instead of the MK2 because the price difference is miniscule, and I have even often seen stores selling the MK2 for more than the MK5. $412 is a damn good price.

You could always get used decks if money is tight. The technics like never die so if your looking for a set of them you should be fine getting a used set.
