Rabbitjoker you've brought out some very good points...

But for those that think 100+mil would be perfect, think about it, you'd be a tycoon living the rest of your life worrying about your tax consequences
You'd be finding more lawyers and bankers to hide or bank roll it bigger and all your energy would be consumed doing it. You'd never get to really enjoy it.

You'd also be the envy and a walking hate target for everyone that meets you. Sounds to me like a lonely life. Who would you trust to be your friend. No one, bcuz everyone would have a motive. Look at Forbes or Onassis--talk about a lonely and segregated life.
Of course you could also become like the devious, deceitfull, self-centred, step on everyone, only interested in self interest type of Tycoon like the Rothchilds but, how could you face yourself.

So imo a smaller fortune would probably be less stress, don't you think? :D

I dont think anyone here would work for someone else if they had large cash.

When you have that much cash, why would you live somebody else's dream when you have your own. one work entrapeneur.

Me, I am going to build up my business, one thing always leads to another. My goals are to have a successful business living a good life. Then when i retire, I would have a bar, sorta like cheers. Id be the bartender and hang out with my customers.

There is no way i can do nothing. i go fkn insane.

OK. enough dreaming. Gotta get back to work. Too much sun yesterday.

$1-3 million... just put it in a high-interest savings account and live off the interest!
Magnetonium
I want 1 billion dollars, and I dont want anyone to know that I have that money! Now that would be awesome.

Actually, even a million bucks will be fine with me, but again, noone knows I have it. Otherwise, if everyone knows (or people spread the news), what kind of life will you be able to live? You'll become a magnet for robbers and ransom-takers!

Oh, and as for what I would do - I'll retire and go clubbing and partying every single night!!!!!!!!!!!!!
disko-kandi

will do:D

i do believe a lot of people would work if they large amounts of cash. most millionares work very hard for that money, and i think most of us were looking at it from the point of view, of winning the money.

If you worked your way up to a certain net worth, would you say "this is enough for me, im gonna retire"?

I would say no. I dont believe we are all greedy, money whores, i just believe people find something they are good at doing, and most importantly something they enjoy.

If i made this kind of money doing my regular job, im sure i wouldnt just stop working.

stop smoking weed, it messes up with your thought process...

and if I had 100 mil, the first thing I'd do is hire good accountants & lawyers to manage my money in the best possible way, so I don't have to spend my time worrying about it...

And why would you have to lead a lonely life? Your life is what you make it, and if you think 100 mil would change it for worse, well, that's your problem... I know I wouldn't have those kinds of problems.

(makes me wonder, does LeBron James have those kinds of problems as well?)

Believe it or not - but I know of 2 mutual funds that have returned a MINIMUM of 15% per annum (after MER is deducted) EVERY YEAR for the last 10. 1 of those funds has returned over 20% (after MER) for 5 of those 10 years (and that same fund turned at least 30% from 1998 to 2000).

Oh, I forgot about something here.. Both funds have minimum investments of $25k, must be bought directly from the fund managers and have minimum of $5000 increments for further investment.

Ya weed will do that to you...but I know a few that would challenge your comments right now on that issue :toothless

Psst...there are no good accountants & lawyers out there. If you know of any...don't tell...they'll hear you and change their ways (FYI, The word Ethics is crossed out in their dictionary)

I wasn't saying you'd have to lead a lonely life for havin 100 mil. But I was saying that the more money you have, the more headaches that come with it. IMO the solution is to go for a lower number and to always work at reinvesting and living a comfortable (not lavish) life off the interest. And the answer to the LeBaron question is most likely a yes!
Crazy Serb
Well, then, if you don't want to entrust all that money to some accountants & lawyers, you go ahead and spend some time studying and finding out what your options are and what would the best way of protecting that money be...

...the same way you go ahead and spend a few years of your life in school learning how to make money (get a job).

then again, I'd probably get my best friend's girlfriend to take care of this for me. she'd be delighted to (she deals with these amounts on daily basis, and her clients are more than happy :D), and I'd love the time off :D

see this is the problem with people...accountants are bad cause the media says so. Yes i know they have been caught with a lot fraud recently. BUT, those are a few accountants in very powerful positions. there is a lot of presure put on the accountants from the managers. If the CEO asks the CFO(usually an accountant) and the accountant refuses, they are fired. the ceo will just find another one who is a fraud.

Every profession is full of bad people, but do not condem the entire profession. how many libraries have been built which sink cause the engineers did not take into account the weight of the books? yet we dont say down with engineers.

had to rant
