hey every1 i have not long finished my g.c.s.e's(main exams at the end of school) i did really well better than i thought(9/10 passes a*-c) but im 16 and i have no real clue what i want to do with my life. i have taken a positive decision 2 stay on in further ducation @ the 6th form but where do i go from there?i dont wanna go university cos its more time earning no money. im worried this is all a waste of time and is going nowhere fast..

what did every1 else do at this stage? was any1 in a similar state as me?

I had the same thoughts when I was 16. Most of my friends were already earning their own money and I wanted to have my own money too and lead a live like they did but I went to University and never regreted it.

You earn more money when you have diploma from University than all the people around you that already earn money but that`s not the main point.

The main point is that it seems to me that you don`t really know what to do and the worst thing you could do now is decide for some job, since the decision what job you take is one of the most important in your whole life. You`ll be working in this job for the rest of your life (hopefully), so don`t take this too easy. When you go to University you have more time to decide what you really want. I have friends that loved cars and so they became mechanics and are now really unhappy with their job and pay.

I recommend University......(plus you don`t have to get up every day at 7 and work till the evening with just a few days for vacation a year. It gives you time to live your life!)

mmm yeah i guess so...i dont really know an awful lot about it tho..i would have thought it would be alot of hard work and dedication though..and when u come out u can get a REALLY good job..i dont want that tho..i want a job that does like mon-fri 8-5..like standard hours. im not obsessed with earnin huge money just enough 2 enjoy my life and have those occaional luxuries..plus my nearest uni could be aggees away....what's uni like ?

After i finished my gcse`s i took a year out of education to think things over and did the things i enjoyed (Art+Music+Life)

consider doing the same, look at what u enjoy and are good at (From your results u appear intelligent) most people take a year out after a-levels (here in england) then seriously consider university, (uni life is great youll enjoy it)

also i really recommend (from my experience) to do any a-levels at a college and not in 6th form, for a broader selection of courses and a more adult atmosphere.

you will also find guidance/support tutors in such colleges and schools to help you.

i finished high school when i was 18...took a year off and worked....then decided to get my ass back into school and get a degree (finished 2nd year, studying business), i see an University Diploma as a backing and job security....nobody can take that away from you once you earn it!!!

i'm almost sure i'll be better off and have a better job security after earning the degree. If you have a chance to get into a good job early, or start your own business such as a consturction company at an early age w/o school, might as well go for it....

good luck in your decisions...

Have you considered just taking a year away from school/uni, thinking it over during the break, and then, if you decide it's want you want, go to uni next year?
