Can anyone enlighten me as to what makes a good snare for trance. I dont mean which hardware or software, but type of sound, processing etc.
My tracks seem to fall flat in this area.
Any advice for would be much appreciated. |

the FX you put on them..
Compression, reverb, and EQing (in that order) |

| Sirocco |
| a gate after the reverb can make great addition |

a good snare starts with a good sample !
which will need some fx (at least in trance)
An exciter is a good alternative for eq-ing |

you can also use a locut _before_ compressing the snare. a 2nd soft compression after the reverb gives the snare sound a nice thick "dfffff" (you know what i mean) |

| Sometimes it can be good to use a phaser effect on long snare roll lines. |
