Im always trying 2 get a full decent pro sounding kick, but it always falls flat.

Has ne1 got any suggestions for good samples, good eqing techniques, good compression settings etc.

My kicks always seem to feel hollow and empty.

In short... sample.

Someone posted some nice solid kick samples a while ago and they were pretty good. Sample of tracks that have a good kick and start with just the kick, you can get a good take off them. Once you have a good selection, you can start layering them together, taking the his off one, the lows off another and you can start getting your own. Then obviously some compression to get it further right. That is how I do it. I spend a while just sitting there making kick loops so thatI have a choice when it comes to making a song and I can take one that sounds right.

great tutorial

I don't think the pictures or files are still up, but you can still read it.

just download some samples. Then you can 'amp' the sample or mess with the res and stuff like that.

Hi there!
The key for a deep sound for a kick is first of all Compressing. Afterwards, some wise EQ. I can send you a preset of compressing i did for a kick a few months ago. You can also check my tune on the promotion section, let me know if thats the kind of kick your looking for.

Cheers.

Try using a kick sample TWICE and just EQ'ing and compressing appropriately.
