I originally posted this thread in FLTA by mistake and sure enough I only got about 5 responses....Thanks Ian and Amber for the info but I need more!!!! :) So I decided to move it here cause I know you guys will help me out. ;)

Alright now I have been taking notes as far as when/why/how/and who to buy flights from online. What I have found is that flight prices are pretty much set at the same price untill about two weeks from the departure date. Then they tend to go down quite a bit untill about the week before the departure date, then they go through the roof. Today I bought a round trip ticket to Orlando on the 17th returning on the 21st (Rachel and I are driving down to Miami for Tiesto:toothless )

Now I have been looking at flights for about a month and the price was about $260 untill today. Today they were listed for $180 on expedia so I went to buy the damn flight and there were no seats available when I went to check out....then it turns out....that same flight jumped up $5. So I went to priceline.com and got the same flight I wanted for $182. Then just for the hell of it....I logged back onto expedia and the damn flight was available again for $180....wtf???

Two weeks ago I scored a $160 round trip to Orlando this thrusday. I have found that its cheepest to fly on thursdays and mondays. The reason I didnt wait longer to buy my flight on the 17th was I was afraid the price would go back up over $200.

So I guess im asking for your advice on buying tickets online, special deals that you know about and so on.

Thanks,
Bri

i have found that you can often get a better deal when you go directly to the airline website. you usually save at least the $5 surcharge expedia or travelocity tacks on.

try: http://www.spiritair.com/
http://www.jetblue.com/
http://www.aa.com/
http://www.airtran.com/

I still love travelocity. Go to http://travelocity.com/ and in the box on the left where you select flights, check the box that says FLEXIBLE DATES. This will show the best flights for about a three month period. It brings up a calendar that shows all the available days to fly. This has been the best for me when I do have a little flexibility in traveling.

Happy travels!
