Changing Mozilla profiles

Ok, yesterday, FireFox somehow ran in the background(nothing but taskmgr was showing it), and I didn't know that. I tried opening it, and it came up with a profile window. I thought "Ok, I'll just select _default and see if that's my profile." It said that it was in use. So I made a new profile, and set it to automatically use that one(please, don't ask). After that, I decided to open up taskmgr, and lo-behold, ANOTHER COPY OF FIREFOX WAS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND!
How do I change my profile? I've gone through the profiles folder, checked all the options for anything to do with profiles, and all I found was nothing. What should I do? |

, the exact same thing happened to me less than a month ago. it was really annoying since all my bookmarks were in the first profile and i could only use the second one. annoying as hell. anyway, i think i switched back with clicking
Tools
and then at the bottom of that menu is switch profile.
hope you can sort it out. |

:conf: thats odd!
we are talking about Mozilla right?
mine is from like a month and a half ago. not to good with comps, i downloaded it from their homepage. anyway under tools i have:
form, cookie... ...managers
then
password and download manager
then
web development
and at the bottom
switch profile.
as far as i know it has been there since i installed mozilla and not something i somehow added.
this is from Help in mozilla:
| quote: | Deleting or Renaming a Profile
You may want to delete profiles that you don't normally use. To delete or rename an existing profile:
1. Exit the browser. It is not possible to create, delete, or rename a profile while the Navigator, Mail, or any other component of your browser software is running.
2. Open the Profile Manager:
* On Windows, open the Start menu and choose Programs, then Mozilla, then Profile Manager.
* On Mac OS, open the Mozilla folder and then double-click the Profile Manager.
* On Linux or Unix, type the following at the command line: ./mozilla -profile
3. To delete a profile, select its name and click Delete Profile.
4. To rename a profile, select its name, click Rename Profile, and follow the instructions. |
maybe it can help you if you delete the profile you created, i mean, than you would only have one again. i hope you can fix it. good luck!! |
