Live sound engineering

Before I started producing, I always wondered why the singing in live bands always sounded a bit wierd. The voice just sounded slightly wrong. Of course, now, I know that it's lack of reverb (amongst other things).
Which led me to think about live concerts.
Naturally, the sound engineer is listening and adding things like reverb to the appropriate channels to make it sound 'right'.
But do they cheat too and add programs like pitch fixers etc to make sure the singers are in tune etc ?
Curious to know. |

| No, the engineer presses play on the cd player while the band mimes.... Vanilla ice ice baby, too cold. |
