Why are some random threads still open yet not PPR? (pg. 7)

Ok, there are other thread out there that definitely consume alot more space than our chatting threads, i.e. the picture thread in the COR, hense why it was deleted. And if anything, the first thread to go for taking up space would have to be the Cali room (recently closed) it grew beyond the size of the original PPR - which is insane. |

is space really an issue? speed was really uneffected also.
however it is not up to us members, rather the admin (swampdiddy) and his appointed minions (various mods). They've be chatting recently, which surprised me that they started visiting the board :wtf: (cheap shot I know), and they decided to be consisitant and kill all threads that, as far as I know, amass a large quantity of replies. I also think they may throw in that the replies vary widely in topic and resemble a chatroom.
so its their call, we have two opions...
1) Not make those types of threads.
2) Not post here.
I actually have to adjust quite a bit as I am used to going straight to the west coast forum to see what my homies were up to. but now I can't, and I guess if I try to see whats up with them I risk getting suspended....yes it happened, imagine that.
all in all you'll all will move on, regroup and find other forms of entertainment that create cohesive bonds which made these long ass threads soo damn cool. SO lets relax, and remember, we're all on the same team.

You know what could be a solution to this... Im gonna take what Neo said and modify it just a bit... maybe Swamper could make a division of the COR like a chat room... and split it up into cities and countries like we have now. That way, people cant post-pad and we can chat all day.
i.e.
COR -> Chat Rooms -> 'Your city/country' -> your own chat thread.

ok its 3:30 am and i just go back from Nation and im too tired to read everyone's post.
But bein a mod on dungpow, I do know that large threads have a big impact on a database. Im not a computer whiz, but it does slow down and on top of that, IF it does get deleted somehow, it could crash the WHOLE site.
Not that anyone cares, but on dungpow, we close threads that get over 250 posts just for that reason. We just start a new thread and do it all over again.
Im not gonna argue that some mods are czars, but hey, we all signed up on TA, and no one is holding a gun to our heads to stay, so just suck it up. |

All the ppr threads in all the forums are getting closed.
As i explained in another thread in here, it's a global decision by all of the mods on TA.
The cali thread is getting closed, the other local forums too
The one in the UK forum is closed
the holland forum one is closed
the austrailian one is closed.
you are not being picked on.

two guys i know were playin breakbeat up in the rubik room and they are competing against other djs for rights to play @ cubik again. We all had to vote, and dude, they fuggin rocked the place and won.
Alias in the main room is a goth scene and i heard a bangin remix of Dreaming by Libra. . . i think thats the name of the song. Its on tiestos summerbreeze.

It doesnt have anything to DO with space. Larger threads slow down Ta, and 99.999999999% of the time larger threads are filled with spam. The picture thread was closed because of useless spam, same with the ppr rooms. why does it matter so much, neo & mods made the right decision.
Swamper wanted to just delete that cali thread, but it would crash the ta servers... |
