I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. But there are loads of people on this board who instantly hate something that gets played a lot. |

And? I never say "I hate Xpander, it gets played too much". Xpander is an okay track, but in my honest opinion it doesn't deserve the praise it gets, and it intensely annoys me that it wins every poll you ever put it in. That Xpander is a classic is beyond doubt, but why it gets more recognition than other classics is beyond me. |

I never really understood what separated the big songs from the forgotten ones, my best guess is that the biggest songs are the ones that are liked by the people who control the broadcasts and such. But there are alot of time's that you think back to and can only find a few songs, and it makes you wonder what else people back then listened to, because 3 or 4 anthems couldnt possibly fill and entire set.
I suppose the most overrated songs would be the "best ever" things like rank 1-airwave, PvD - For an Angel, System F - out of the blue, the list goes on. I think those songs are good, but i dont understand what made them stand above the other songs that were being made.
There hasnt been a track that has really got my attention the way songs did when I was a little napster fiend, nothing has really stood out as an amazing track, they all seem to be different arrangements of the same sets of ideas and similar sound patterns, perhaps the reason people are so jaded now is because back in the day there wasn't so much out that has been tried before.
Its seems to me that the biggest songs aren't neccesarily the best, they just happen to be the "coolest" of whats out. Which I find quite sad, since I came o trance looking for an alternative to this struggle to be "cool".
I think the most overated poeple are the really famous trance DJ's. There really isnt much that separates them from the rest of the trance players out there except that they just happened to make that one track that got really big.
People who listen to trance to be cool should just get the out right now. |
