Talk about stressed out

I walked out on work today after receiving a call that there is a fire at the base of my neighborhood. I swear it felt like my heart stopped...my house is at the base of my neighborhood. I have two pets and I would flip out if something happened to them. I called BayNews 9 and they comfirmed that there is a 50 acre fire blazing out of control that is bearing down on my neighborhood. Fire departments from two counties have been fighting the blaze to no avail. I left work with everything still sitting out and drove home on I-75 at 100mph. Upon my exit you could see the smoke in the sky. When I drove down the road to come towards the main road to my neighborhood you could clearly see the fire. Helicopters are in the sky pouring water. I drove into my neighborhood and there are cars everywhere. The main road (County Line) dead ends and you have the option to turn left or right. I live in a subdivision to the right. The fire is approaching from the left. I drove home first to get an idea of what I am dealing with and then I drove back out to go across to the other side to see how close the fire is to my house. There are cars parked all over the road. People can go into the first two subdivisions and no further. There are fire trucks everywhere. The sky is black. You can't even see the subdivisions at the end of the road. I prayed for rain and when I started to write this it started to rain a little. I've packed some of my things and if it comes to it I guess I will have no choice but to leave. I can honestly say that I cannot remember the last time that I was this nervous. When I was driving home I was shaking. Why am I posting on here? Because I listening to a live report of the fire online. I need something to calm my nerves and writing has always been a form of therapy for me.

Amber, I hope everything works out for you...
I was going to Tampa today too, but there's going to be a storm around here so I don't want to take my chances.
Usually when I'm stressed out, I either practice dancing, or play the piano.
Again, I wish everything works out for you. |
