by the way, what was the song he played after "stupid disco"? (baby make your move, step out from the line, touch me one more time, come on tell me)
the lyrics were something like "count on me" or "come to me" or something
"count on meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
count on me!"
loop x100
i've heard it before and am dying to know the name!! |

Hmm..wasn't there, but maybe it was Thomas Bangalter - Call on me? |

that brings me to a question that, after pondering for the last two months, I'm certain isn't stupid.
Why does every Stupidisco track I DL sound EXACTLY like the Clamaran remix of Call On Me? |

Is that the remix of Steve Winwood's track that I heard Mark Oliver play one night? That tune rocks, and if it's Thomas Bangalter, that makes total sense. He blew me away! |

Steve Lawler was uningbelievable last night. Once again Steve really outdid himself with yet another unforgettable set that reaffirmed all of my thoughts and opinions of Steve Lawler. IMO he is still far and away the best house DJ out there. I don’t care what anyone says, no one comes close to him, in my eyes he is the undisputed King of House Music. END OF DISCUSSION!
:D
I enjoyed Steve's set last night even more than the legendary 7 hour monster marathon set he threw down here in March. I wasnt sure if Steve could outdo that performance but I should have known that he would. Every time I have gone out to hear Steve play out I have found myself walking away from the party thinking to myself “WOW that was his best set yet, I can't see him or anyone else topping that set anytime soon as it was that good”. And then in predictable fashion Steve Lawler comes back and outdoes himself, raiseing the the bar a little higher with a set that was even better than the last.
Steve hit the decks at around 1:30 last night and for the next 5 hours or so he proceeded to up good and proper, like only Lawler knows how to do. Steve assaulted us with his often imitated but never duplicated blend of raw and dirty, sexually super-charged energetic house music.
I don’t know what it is but there is something special about the music Steve plays that just seems to bring out the best in a party. When Steve is ON you just know that the VIBE in the club he is spinning is going to be OFF THE CHARTS and last night happened to be a perfect example of that. His sound is all about partying your ass of, getting down and dirty on the dancefloor. You just can’t help but shake your ass or jump around like a possessed madman to his “funky ass shakin’ pimped up to house music”.
From the moment he put on his first record to his final tune of the night he had the club GOING OFF to his VIBED UP HOUSE MUSIC. All of the elements that one would expect to find in classic set from Steve Lawler were present last night. Loads of the freshest most upfront house music on the planet, plenty of sexed up vocal tracks, dark twisted drums, acid and electro infused house music, big chunky funky as rolling house music, some techno, and those massive big room house tunes that would blow the roof off any club in the world were ever present last night.
Even the fact that I felt the night finished a little too abruptly couldn’t put a damper on my night. That was one of the best nights of music i've ever heard in this city.
ps. VIVA LA HOUSE MUSIC!!! |

Overall I liked his set.. at times he was losing me, but I heard he wasn't in the greatest mood that night. Great seeing all that were there and meeting a few people as well.. though there was a lot less familiar people than I thought there would be
I hope to hit a couple of good parties before I disappear.. |

As perusual Matt Vagrant threw down a great set in the front room. Although I am not really comfortable dancing in the stark bright frontroom I enjoyed every second of Matt's set and Deep Grove always ALWAYS impresses me. Lawler was alot of fun but I was really tired and I found the beats were not quite as dirty as I would have liked them to be. I did like the vibe in the crowd alot more than when he he was here in March though. Very friendly crowd, more room to dance and no bottom feeder sleazeballs trying to prey on women left alone on the dancefloor. Gotta say I love the new no smoking rule. Seemed like all were abiding with things and it didn't hurt the club one bit.
All in all it was a great night..just wish I had a bit more energy to enjoy more of it. |
