60th Anniversary of D-DAY is officially tomorrow but this weekend is the celebration of the D-DAY.
all I can say to the people who gave their lives and fought (which I doubt any read the board) is THANKS, the freedom I have today, is thanks to you. So if you see a veteran around this weekend and I'm sure they will be around, tell them thanks. |

We owe the deepest gratitude to all those who sacrificed their lives during the Normandy invasion and throughout WWII. Hard to imagine how history would've changed if the allies hadn't defeated the Nazi regime.
We salute these heroes and the heroes sacrificing their lives daily in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Global War on Terror.

true heroes.
in they eyes of the enemy, they fought bravely and honorably, many making the ultimate sacrifice. Some of them are still alive today and they should be given the upmost respect. You never know that the person you tell to hurry up or get out of the way might be a man who once saw a sea of red blood, people being shot to death and saw their brothers and fathers and sons and friends die before their eyes so many years ago. They deserve the ultimate respect, as i said, they are true heroes |

The WWII monument recently dedicated to the veterans is an absolutey beautiful thing. It's just a shame the government couldn't have done it about 20 years earlier while many of the veterans were still living so they could've visited it, paid their respects to their fallen comrades, and sought closure.
