anybody else make network cables?

ok, i dont have a problem with making network cables, but i made a wall unit, and the tester says it works fine, but when i plug in my computer, it wont work.

Is this like hooked up as a broadband cable? Your ISP will normally drop them for you. If you're splicing into it, it shouldn't be a problem.

i dont know what all of that means. so i'm going to tell you exactly what i'm doing...
i've got the wall unit that plugs into the hub in another room. the hub goes up to another hub, upstairs, and thats also where the cable modem is plugged into.
at first i thought the reason it wasn't working cause on the tester the sequence was out of order (even though the lights were all green [green = good]) so now that it does it in proper sequence, and still doesn't work...i'm out of ideas. |

OK, that's CAT 5 wiring from modem to computer.
See if this helps, you may have the socket wiring wrong if you installed the socket ends yourself. If you bought the patch cables with sockets already installed, you may be plugging them in wrong on your router/modem.

| make sure your using the same cable standard for the wall socket. you should test the whole thing. unplug it at the hub and put the tester there then hook a cable up to the wall socket and put a terminator on the end of the cable. if it doesn't work and the cable at the end is ok, then the punch panel you just put together is messed up. |
