factoring polynomials are the opposite of FOIL
say you have:
x^2+2x-8
factoring this would lead us to:
(x-2)(x+4)
try foiling that.
x*x = x^2
+
x*4 = 4x
+
-2*x= -2x
+
-2*4 = 8
add like terms and you get:
x^2+2x-8
hope this helps... its all about guess and cehck baby :D
(there might be some way but i just "see" it then check it
edit:
to find the numbers you have to find 2 numbers which multiply and give you the constand (in this case -8) and when added you get the middle number.
factors of 8: -2*4 -4*2 -8*1 -1*8
see if any adds up to 2
-2*4 that one did so then you just do ur
hope tihs helps |

thats easy
just look it up on the net...
multiply first terms of each equation together, then outer, inner terms, then lasts.
eg....
(2x-4)(2x-1)
= 4x*2-4x+4
*2 = means 2 squared ...
simple |
thats hilarious... cause you got the wrong answer |
