eh ehm who are you talking about? your right you would wind up dead, not me... thats why we would draft people like you. you're the type of draftee the platoon leader would send on specific missions, such as clearing minefields, looking around corners to see where the enemy is firing from, and guarding the far perimeters alone at night from ambush. as for me, i completed my training with the army and was the honor graduate of my company, thank you. i am 100% confident i do and will always have more experience than you on this subject, so go back to your CS game...
ok before you get flamed lets keep this thread on subject, about the draft that will not happen anyways. you know they made basic harder and longer this year in the army... i think it is only about %80 who enlist are making it through now. you think they'd do this if they need people so bad? don't panic people, you can go on with your lives:

being in the army does not equal having all the answers ... you're in the army cause you couldn't construct your own phrases so you had to go back to kindergarten to learn how to speak and preach someone elses preconceived notions.
While this training might complete your sense of control on a piece of paper as well as on a training ground your force and lack of knowledge will all vanish once confronted with reality. |

Well so sorry to denounce you on your ability of training. I was only explaining this as a joke! *hint hint |
lol ok in that case, sorry my bad Lac... as long as you know CS frags won't get you put up for promotion in the real army! i had to work for dat sheit!
anyways everyone is too paranoid about this, short of WWIII the draft is not going to be re-instated at this time. they are turning many volunteer recruits down for what might seem like minor physical reasons. they gave me a hard time couple years back when i said i was allergic to cats (lol) and this was right after 9/11 happened and they wanted more soldiers for the upcoming WOT. they are more picky than you would think! |

you are right, being in the army does not equal having all the answers i agree with that and never stated anything of the sorts...
but what gets me is why would you know why am in the army? you have no idea man. i am not the typical kind of person you think would be in the army. it has nothing at all to do about someone elses preconceived notions, they can try to forcefeed me notions and turn me into a killer if thats what you mean by that sentence up there, but i am not that kind of person in the first place and secondly thats not what the army is like. maybe you have seen too many shabby war movies like "basic". i can see through all that. i am actually a philosophy major and the reason i chose to go down this path at this point in my life would be way too hard for you to contemplate or possibly understand. we all choose paths in life, i have been down ones that are 180 degrees the opposite way from this one. this is no different. perhaps i crave experience in life, you may classify certain things good or bad, but i don't see it that way. i take any and all experiences as experiences. nothing more, nothing less, i don't expect anything from any situation i'm in, i just live through it. how could you possibly know if you don't experience?
one of the main reason i joined has to do with 2 friends, one i have and one i've lost, so please don't try to classify. the army isn't all mindless schmucks who want to kill and burn and pillage, ok? you might even find that most of the guys don't care about any of that , they are in it because they want to be there for the guys next to them, these are young guys just like you and me. you need someone to watch your back out there, i don't care if you agree with war or the president or what, these guys are out there thinking just like you, but they don't have the luxury to sit around and bitch about it!
the simple point i was trying to make to lac is that i have more experience than online game play ok, i had to work for my promotions, not all this other stuff you are bringing up. don't assume such nonsense about military unless you are in it ok? no hard feelings jdat but it seems like you are opposed to the military i am just wondering why and how you figure the things you said!:nervous: |

I was never an Army person I always loved Navy, always loved to fly those F16s when I was little, always collected the model airplanes and read the tech stuff on the ships and fighter planes. Now if the bill decides to fall in next year and I don't have a way out then I'll sign myself to the Navy first bat. Best part about the Navy is you get to travel around different countries and thats what I love to do. ;)
Can you imagine britney spears going to the draft LOL.. |

Where did I state loud and clear that I was in total opposition of military, war and all the components it represents ? Nowhere!
The point which I am taking and it cannot be denied, is so many people go into the military for lack of better option and/or lack of direction.
I do not consider the military as a source of making killing machines, that can't be taught, that is human nature, war is hell, while it exposes the surhuman powers within ones self it also ones supercharges ones evil nature.
Not that this is in direct link with my train of thought, but I don't believe that said prison abusers ( as recently exposed in the media for example in the us / iraq prisoner abuse situation ) intentionally decided to act in such a way. I believe it is situations of utter chaos that push one to the extreme and act like a third ones self, and it is in such cases that extreme self control or lack of.
Too many people lack a sense of direction and enroll because they believe it is the light. |

yes, this is partially true, many people do this. i met plenty of kids at basic who had just turned 18 and were married with kids already but not sure how to support them. also people who have been in jail and this was their last resort before going back. just don't get the idea that everyone is like that. you should never generalize with people, even ones you have known for years and years and you think you know them in and out. never meet someone with the image you have of them.
i have a sense of direction in life i have never been unhappy with where i am headed along my path. what you consider direction in life (for examples sake only!) may mean a fast car, beautiful wife and a big house, however for someone else it may mean a small secluded hut on the beach in mexico and a guitar... so it is hard to classify these things in anything but a subjective way. i could have started down that "businessman" suit and tie path like most of my friends did after college, but that is not for me. i won't deny the fact that things such as them paying off my college loans affected my choice, but the military was by far not "my lack of better option". i had plenty of choices but there are many things in my life that told me for now i should experience this path.
btw Lac- yes thats true what they say about the navy, they don't really fight. thats why they have the marines :thepirate ...its all good as long as you don't get seasick (like me) on big ships! |
