ok i run into this problem rather often, when i goto work ona track i cant variate the percussion enough to make it not sound bland to me. i was looking for some ideas from people as to how the form their percussion and how they variate them. ive read lots fo post but nothing really in depth read post wher they show the perucssion lay out but what i find hard is making the varition subtle enough without it being obvious that the kick has just switch to a new kick and such. ideas ive been toying with is automation of paning, eq, chrous and then just having channels for the kicks and hats and claps. the only problem is i find that to be rather tideous and was wondering if theres any othe usefull ways to make percussion not sound so repeative and annoying. when i first started producing id break every element of the percussion down in channels and ahve a channel for every kick hat and clap but ive found as you near the middle of your track taht your channel list grows to be rather large and the confussion grows no matter how much i lable every channel to match the kick. just wondering if anyone has some pointers or advice on this one. thanks, figured id edit this and add somethign else i would like some advice on, that being melodys and harmonys, i find it rather diffcult to blend many melodys together that i form for one track even when starting in the same key i find it allways to end up where i wont be in the same key by the time i get to my thrid or fourth melody my question is what would be a good way to do a slide between the keys or should i just do a pitch automation and drop the pitch to throw it in the same key but not exactly in the same key. also find taht when im making pads for a track that they often to match up to the melody the way id like them to they end up being over bearing or just blantly sounding like musical . any ideas advice??
