soundcard which outputs its line-in at real-time

Ok, so i used to have an sb audigy and basically i had my mixers hooked up to the line-in and my computer speakers on the regular out and it was able to play back everything right there. however, i just started producing and i needed a 24/96 card. my audigy just couldn't work w/ logic. so i got an m-audio revolution, and i hooked it up and it works fine w/ logic however, when i'm using the monitoring, there's a delay for the output signal from the line-in. Does anyone know another 24 bit sound card which can output the line-in in real-time so there's no delay? i looked on a lot of websites, but they don't seem to specify these details. appreciate the help. thanks.

the m-audio revolution is part of their consumer line.. I dont see why it would do that, though.. rather odd..

but my Audiophile 2496 (part of their proffesional line) can do that no problem.. but if u need more than 1 input than look elsewhere.. but it works fine for me and my monitor/virus combo :)

reduce the buffer / latency of the m-audio card and you'll be lucky.. ;)

yea... i found this quite strange, because my audigy had no problem playing back my vinyls in real-time. i think i might just sell this and get the audiophile. any other suggestions before i do this?

PRETTY MUCH ANY DECENT SOUND CARD CAN DO THIS!!!!

...that's right... you don't need to start discussing pro-sound-cards!!!!
alanzo
^ Foo is right about that.. I was able to listen to things in real time on my $10 integrated POS :) - try messing aruond with the settings in the control panel of the revolution.. i'm sure that's the problem..
trancinchink
nah... there's no settings.. i'm sure of it. it definitely doesn't work. i'm not a computer illiterate person. i know them well enough.

well if u get a new card.. consider what you'll be doing with it.. if you just DJ than the audiophile is a bit of a waste since it's more of a producer card since a lot of what you're paying is for all the work they did on the ASIO drivers which are for producing rather than DJing..

OK, i've decided to throw some more words into this....
in the MSwindows control panel for sound volumes... there's a recording and playback panel for all inputs and outputs of your computer.
There's the checklist of input and outputs that can be adjusted in either recording and playback panels/modes.

...for you....just check (add the checkmark) the input that you want to record in the recording panel and check the same one in the playback panel. un-mute and up the gain on both. the playback one controls how loud you're monitoring the input thru playback mode.

I'm doing this on both my POS Compaq integrated soundcard (ithink it's an AC'97 er something integrated PO).. and on my better computer running only a SBLive card.

Honestly... unless your computer is an amiga or something from the early 90s or 80s, you really should be able to do this.

I'm really just trying to save you cash on a pro-sound-card. If you still can't get this running... spend no more than $100 (CDN)or $60 (USD) on a cheap SBLive sound card.

ok... as i said b4. i'm not computer illiterate. all that has been done. i know this card can't do that. when i bought the m-audiophile USB, that card could not even play the input from the output. i made this thread to ask for suggestions of a good producer/dj card. if you don't have any helpful suggestions then dun post.

I had one of those cards.. m-audio says "it's a limitation of the card"

Audiophile PCI does that no problem.. but again.. if you're just DJing get some cheap card with 1/4" inputs/outputs
