alright, my best friend broke up with his girlfriend twice like three months ago, because they got in a fight, and he said that he would rather break up with her, than cause her pain with the fighting, all the while not realizing (despite my best efforts at showing him) that the break up caused more pain than the fights ever could.
Anyways after the second break up, the girl had had enough n didnt want anything to do with him. this caused him great pain, and he said several nights in a row for almost a month that he was going to kill himself. every night he said this, and every morning he got up and went back to school.
this time, though, hes speaking with a lot more finality, what with the delegating out of possessions and all. the both of us are going into the navy over the summer months, and i made him promise me that he wouldnt do anything stupid before he left. he does not remember this.
what im asking for is some help to talk some sense into this fool. after a month of fake suicide threats, it gets rather difficult to muster any real compassion, as i dont believe he'll do it this time. i am still, however, compelled to make sure that my best friend does not die. any suggestoins? the current convo doth follow :)

matt: a lot of people have been telling me rumors...they all said they heard them from him
matt: Chrissy denied them being true...which means he's spreading or something of the like

matt: also passes inspection and has both headlights....less chance you'll get arrested before you leave

matt: i can't have Chrissy.....you telling me that today....prompted this forward....that and all the rumors....i knew it all along...but hearing it from someone else made it seem more real.....and she basically said it today at the bandshell after you left....that finalized it...it was no longer just an idea

matt: if the dream were somehow telling me the future....which i know you'd find completely bogus since you listen to logic not magick.....but if it's telling me the future....and i change how i die...it may change the future of these others

matt: i want you to remind Chrissy she made a promise to me never to do anything with another guy until i leave....and from how rumor has it...she's already broken it....and since i'll not make it into the Navy....by what the promise is....she should never do anything with another guy again....tell her i release her from this promise though....i'd prefer she never did but that would be unfair of me....but remind her everytime she does....i'll be watching....and i'll be feeling the pain she felt when i broke up with her so foolishly

Well I can't really be bothered to read that whole thread but often times the people who are continuously saying how they want to commit suicide are often just looking for attention. People who usually intend on actually doing it do it without warning.
That's not mean to be harsh / rude but that's just kind of how it often works. |

tell him he's young and that he has so much to live for..
im guessing you guys are in highschool thinking that that is life, and there's nothing after that.
geez....you know the thing with teens is that you're maturing in so many different ways...mentally and physically that you're taking a lifetime of changes and cramming it all up into 6 years.
You're friend- if he wanted to kill himself all he'd have to do is jump off a very high bridge, or shoot himself, or perform the ancient japanese suicide ritual of sepacu (sp?)
tell him he's got to in relax- if he was dumping her because that caused "less" pain, then he's a dumbass to begin with.
Not only that but he's all talking to you like you shouldn't get mad for him killing himself- what kinda friend is that, and what kind of friend are you for even taking his demands of his suicidal cowardice bull.
tell him he's got ISSUES, and he's got to solve them the right way.
after death there isn't any coming back- what does he think?
He's going to go to heaven and live a good life in the clouds surrounded by 76 blossoming virgins?
all i have to say to that is- HA!
he cant live with one break up...thats sad.
what makes you honorable isn't necessarily living a peachy perfect life....what makes a person honorable is how they overcome their problems and how they rise to the occasion, beyond all odds and KEEP muthain going!

Get that kid checked into a clinic he obviously has problems dealing with life.
I mean, no offense, but sake. You're in high school. It was his first relationship. When I broke up with my girlfriend in HS I went and bonged vodka-lemonades until I didn't even know my own name. I didn't want to end my life. |
