I recommend checking out Propellerhead's Rebirth 2. It's really good for psy trance/acid like sounds.

Hello,

One tip could be as follows:

Get yourself a freeware mod tracker (e.g. Modplug from modplug.com), download some psy tracker songs, and then study them in the tracker. In the tracker format you can study other people's music - note by note, effect by effect, pattern by pattern. A great way to learn. Now I absolutely do not mean you should start producing with an old tracker, I just suggested it as a way of music studying. :)

Think you wanna be playing with slow sine LFO's, assigned to [edit]filter. Don't know for sure though really ;p

i do hope you mean pwm, cause shape would give some extreme ugly effects (and I don't think there are a lot of synths offering this in the first place)
Overdrive and pulse, high pitched beats, lots of modulation, and creativity above all. And remember that goa/psyfreaks take unhealthy amounts of drugs on their parties so make it have a crazy climax :p

Cheers for the advice everyone:gsmile:
hey cheggy
303s are used a lot in psy. Check out a program called ABL. It should help you out for your synthesis. Then just grab some distortion plugins as well.

Yeah that Audiorealism Bassline is very cool. IMHO, the closest emulation to a real 303 from what I recall. I had one back in the day when I didn't know anything about producing and if I remember correctly, ABL sounds pretty close...not 100% perfect, but it will fool most people that are not 303 purists. And to think that when they stopped working on FreeBee, I thought it was going to be the end. I'm glad the guy kept working it and now it's a commercial product.:)

psy can be a quite difficult thing to produce and still have others call it psy.You have to be extremely innovative as it requires clean production as well as a lot of trip.I say listen to as much as you can and go from there.
