Good morning all,

I have some fantastic news for you about Discogs, as a Moderator there I have been heavily involved in Discogs on the trance side with a handful of other mods.

As some of you may have noticed, Discogs has now become read-only, so no updates or new submits will be allowed, this is because as of the End of June, Discogs V2 will be launched!!!!

I've had a couple of internal looks at how the new database will look on the trance side and it looks absolutely magnificent, such a great improvement, so much better for everyone to use, and a lot easier to update and more advanced than normal.

We have been testing over the past couple of months the Hip Hop Genre with the Version 2 site format, and the results are awesome, can I make it clear not to submit anything to V2 at this stage, as it is ONLY for hip hop right now, but the whole of the V1 database is being transferred over at the moment.

You can have a look now at how the new Discogs will look by going to www2.discogs.com - check out the artist and label pages, so much neater and tidier! I think it's a lot better, there are so many more features as well, being able to submit an image to new pendings as well, if you go to "add release" and just have a browse around you can see all of the new features there are, also when u add stuff to your want list and view the label page you will see a red pin next to the item, whereas before in V1 you would not and would only get the Green Pin for items in your collection.

As I'm sure you'll all agree, the new Discogs will be absolutely awesome, and I am priveleged to be a part of it. Hopefully if I play my cards right I will become an editor for the Trance side of things, so I will be able to help all of you with updates to tracklists etc.

I have already negotiated with a few other mods to fix a lot of the tracklist errors and artist duplications as well as a fewo ther things, and once V2 launches we will be heavily working on that side of things.

Rest assured the new Discogs will be absolutely hot, I'd really like to know what you think of the new look and new features of V2 and also if you have any other comments regarding Discogs.

If you have any questions at all please ask, I am here to help after all :-)

There is also a V2 Guide which is worth checking out, so you are all clued up ready for the switchover as the add release section is a bit more advanced now.

Kind Regards,

Looks good mate, really good.

I really like the way you have set it out with the artists, it looks WAY LESS CLUTTERED and easier to read, which is a big improvement obviously!

Great stuff.

Looks good so far, but I have a question. Will our MyDiscogs info transfer over such as our record collection? Or will we have to create our record collection again?
