Hey people, I'm a trance producer whos only worked with software so far, reason 1.0 and Fruityloops 3.56(no hardware? yup, I'm broke). I've gotten very used to using software and I'd like to hear some tracks by others who may only use it too, I guess it'll help me see what else is possible using only software, and If I've reached the limits in what this kind of software can do.
So could somebody give me a website with a nice trancer only done with software (NO hardware whatsoever!) THANKS. |

Well I was under the impression they were partly hardware, like a single sampler, synth or mixer, I want 100% software only.
(correct me if I'm wrong) |

If you want to know what software is capable of check out some of the following:
Rusch & Murray - Epic :Reason only I believe
Anything by MK-S (Illuminate or his mix of Rapid Eye - Santa Cruz): Reason only
Masters & Nickson - 5th Dimension: Reason only
Sly One - Gamma Storm: Cubase & softsynths.
(PS: Correct me if I'm wrong on any of these!) |

Check out Filo & Peri's stuff too, they use alot of software (and some hardware, but they are known for making entire tracks with software).

Dude just go to www.DjTransducer.com and click on the music link... every song is 100% fruity, VST's, and samples.
EDIT: ok i lied they were mastered afterwards, but still only with software. |

No wonder trance has become so bad lately, so much use of software, I bet the over 35% of the tracks on Armin`s Universal Religion compilation was entirely software made, no wonder that compilaton sucked!!! and what I am trying to say is that too much of those "software based" releases lacks alot of quality actually, cause the produces aren`t really that experienced, many newcomers fail to see that, hence the hype of mediocre releases.. |

I do not think software is the main thing to blame. It's just that trance has slided so much away from what it e.g. sounded in the mid 90s, long before it was possible to buy supersaw-trance in every record store. Even though I personally like much of the more simple-layered and clear melodic trance tracks from 98/99, I still believe those tracks were the beginning of the end... :) Naah, I'm not that desperate, I just think there should be more repetitive and hypnotic stuff, at least that's what I think of when trying to find a definition for the verbal term of trance.
(terribly out of topic) |

You can be experienced with software too. Software is easier to understand I know, but the big hardware studio doesn´t make sound on it´s own. With both hardware and software you need time getting a sound you want.
I also don´t like the cliche trance tracks, but there are some quality trance tracks that are made software only.
It´s also about developing the sound and about if you want to follow or make that development too, not the mainstream development but what is possible production wise.
You stick with what you can do now.
I like to hear your sound:) |
