I'm wondering, how long is one gig ? I don't mean spinning, but live performance. I only go to entire concerts so I have no clue how it works on festivals (hey don't shoot me). But is it about an hour or so ? How many songs do they usually pump into that one hour ?

as long as they ask you?
for elec music that's mostly between 45 minutes and 1u30 |

And how many tracks would there be in 45 minutes ? It's live, and we're more artists then producers so improvisation and all that makes one track an easy 15 minutes lol. But I think they expect a number of songs or not ? |

Somehow I've only attended live sets performed by hard techno and electro producers. Those have been around 1-2 hours long. And no idea how many tracks that's been in those live sets...especially the techno live sets can be full of fiddling with the different drum and percussion lines that it would be almost impossible to tell afterwards, was there one or ten tracks in the set. ;) Those are the live sets I've been to myself. At times the radio stations here broadcast live sets, and the more trancey ones have included around 5-10 tracks. |

I saw Way Out West live a month ago, and they only played like 6-7 tracks "live" before going back to DJ'ing. |

I think one hour is fair, not too short, not too long
A realistic amount of songs to cram in there is 10-12
^^ at least that's how I do it :) |

Back in the old days of playing live, we would do 3-4 hours in 2 sets. Lots of songs in that time. Our total playlist of songs to draw from was about 175. |

I saw TCM awhile back and they played about 2 hours and everyone was beggin for more. I've also seen Erobique play 3 hours live Pa, but he is soo amazing that I think he could go for days. |
