yea so as i brought up earlier, i was thinking of ordering a mixer off music123.com... either the vestax pcv150 or 175. they are both the same price, because i guess they are on sale, and im assuming the 150 is better, as it has 4 channels, as opposed to 3 on the 175, but i really don't know much about it. what does everyone think? good mixer for a beginning dj? also, i have a component cd player from my stereo i could use to hook up to it... no turntables as of yet or anything, but i dont really have another really good cd player to use with the mixer, can i hook my computer up to it and use the cd-rom drive as the 2nd cd player?? thanks a bunch

A beginning DJ does not need 4 channels unless you're seriously planning on doing some crazy James Zabiela , in which case if you're going to drop all that money anyways onto devices that would actually take up all those channels, you can just get a better quality 4 chan mixer anyways. Get the 175, its a quality mixer.

I have the Vestax PCV 175. It meets my needs. I've got 2 turntables and a CDJ going into it and I've never had a problem with it. The blue face plate looks nice too. You can remove it for easy cleaning which is nice also.

peace and trance,
how much money are you willing to spend? I suggest you to buy a DJ Package to begin with. One that brings two turntables and a mixer, or two cd players and a mixer. DJ CD Players are not the same as a regular home stereo cdplayer system. DJ CD Players have the ability to play witht the pitch (velocity) of the track. You need to be able to play with the pitch in order to match both beats of the tracks together, this is called beatmatching and so on...

again, it all depends on how much money are you willing to spend, but I recommend you to start with one DJ Package. Chq them out. A mixer alone will do you no good.
Shudder
i got a pcv 175. have thought of changing but realized its mostly wanting the best equipment which i cant afford to have right now... and it does suit everything i need. havent even used the 3rd channel yet.

The 175 is a great mixer, I had it for a while but my need for EQ in the headphones overcame me and I had to get the 275 eventually,
The 150 is an awesome piece of mixing gear, especially with knobs insted of faders, but like said, you wont need it unless you got 2 TTs and 2 CD players at least...

While I disagree with getting package deals since most of them come with pure , I do want to emphasize what Bluu said about the cd decks. You cannot use your home stereo and CD rom drive to DJ if you're planning on doing this. There is no way you can change the pitch on these things so you won't really be "DJing" at all. You have to get either CD decks or Turntables with a pitch adjust which will run you a tad more than a regular CD player :).

Look around and read up before you buy. I'm not sure you know what you're getting yourself into or what this is all about yet....

yeah, you should def. post something in here before you try and buy one of those package deals so that we can tell you to use the search button. i'll be waiting....
