Downloading right now..
Tracklisting looks a bit weird though, I am curious to hear how you manage to put a DJ Preach track right after Amok & Sven Wittekind, and how it works out :) |

Just finished listening to your mix..
As you already said yourself, beatmatching is quite dodgy at times. Errors in this are corrected quickly most of the time. but they are just too obvious to be left unmentioned. What I just recently discovered myself, is that you can improve beatmatching by listening to hihats instead of bassdrums. Since these are shorter, 'sharper' and of higher frequency, it is a more accurate way of telling whether two tracks are beatmatched spot on. If you are already doing this, forget what I just said :)
Furthermore, the volume levels in your mix are not always consistent, which is sometimes quite annoying to listen to.
On the positive part, most of your mix flows pretty well track choice-wise. The only exception (as I already expected) to this are the last two tracks (and then especially Yimanya).. The mix builds up good, but the last two tracks are a bit of a letdown in this.. Sometimes it's good to slow down a mix at the end, but this is just too much cold turkey.. You could take more time (i.e., use more tracks) to do this if it was your objective to calm down at the end..
There were also some cutting effects in the mix. They were not overdone (which I was very happy about), but still I think they are not really something to be applied in mixes made for home listening, but that's just a personal opinion. Technically, they sounded pretty good by the way. |

Thanks for the review mate.
Well, as I said - and you said. I should practice the beatmatching. This is the first time I'm doing a "tight" mix like this one...and just my second techno mix overall. In the first mix I had 13 tracks in 60 minutes, which easily gets a bit boring when playing techno....but it gives you more time to set up the beatmatching as well... :)
Well...I guess I just have to practice harder... :) |

Depends on the style of techno.. The tracks I tend to spin are also techno, but are often a bit longer and less repetitive (some have breakdowns as long as the regular trance track), and then it's easier to keep it interesting, since most of the work is done by the track itself. In that way you can let tracks go on for five to six minutes easily. When I finally record something that's not full of errors I'll try and post it here..

That's the key to everything... Let me know when you have a new one ready! |

| Actually there are no less than 28 tracks in this mix! I discovered this when I made a cue-file so I could listen to it in the car - going home to my parents over the weekend, my little brother is graduating from high school tomorrow....:) |
