[ Dave Seamen @ Icon Review ] (pg. 3)

Ok, mini review time:
I wasn't gonna go to this at first since it was a weeknight and I hadn't heard anything from the guy. Then someone posted a tracklist in the other thread which at a few tracks I play in it so that piqued my interest, so I last minute decide to go.
Let me just say GOD FRIGGIN DAMN!! I'm glad I went. Dave can throw it the down and plays some quality tunes! I love it when I go to see a DJ for the first time that I've heard nothing from so I don't know what to expect and end up being totally impressed. A couple other tunes I remember that Alex didn't mention:
- Roland Klinkenberg - Monday Groove
- Filterheadz - Yimanya
- THAT DAMN ONE IN THE BEGINNING I WANT THE ID!!!
As usual great times with the O-town crew, even SlackerBoy finally came out, damn that was a fun night.

It was great to chill with some of you the other night to check out Dave. I can't wait until the next outting...Tiesto?
Anyway, this was my first Dave Seaman set, and I was righteously impressed. I don't know that I agree with the comments about lack of flow in Dave's set. It was a bit eclectic, but a good DJ set's all about ebb and flow, right? I mean, if there wasn't, every DJ set would sound like Carl Cox (not to knock the man...he's got madskillz, but he bores me to death). On a more positive note, the man's mixing was solid, and so were the drink pours. I forgot myself at some point there. :crazy:
I'm not a big fan of Icon, but these past two shows (Sander and Dave) have been really cool. Along with the good music, I've had great conversations with friends, old and new, and the vibe has been totally solid. I guess we can thank each other for that rather than Icon for upping the cover, as usual.

| Seamen also dropped this tribal track which is a staple in Sander K's set. Name escapes me atm but I will skim through some older sets! |

| Eh my over all personal review is.... it was kewl. I thought the vibe was so so... nothing great and not horrible. The place was fulled decently which was surprising.. since ICON never fulls anymore. I thought Dave Seaman's set was kewl... but not the best i have ever seen. His charisma and postive vibe/atitude was awesome. Even though that night was my birthday and i was wore out from being at seaworld all day.. i still had an OK time. |
